Bsa R10 Side lever

NO WAY TOO ....

all the Scorpion based guns have ONLY 2 screws holding the breech onto the main tube. both only 4mm screws, one being just forward of breech opening, one at the rear.

Side levers require a centered rear lever pivot point .... bummer the breech screw is right there and in no way strong enough for the task IMO. Same reason JSAR or anyone else never made Gen 1 M-rod side levers ... same issue.

That rear screw only has a few threads into the rear end cap / HST thimble.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news .... Tho said, it is JMO ?

I was thinking of getting a custom breech made. I know it would be cheaper to buy one with a side lever but I just love the R10. There's something about it that just pulls me to it. I purchased another one las week in .177 that I'm waiting on a huma reg to tune it for backyard smacking the house sparrows and starlins that like to destroy my bird feeder. Should be here in a few days.

Reach out to the guy in Thailand who sells Marauder breeches. I forget who but search Google side lever Marauder and CROSMAN breech. Maybe if you got connections to the old BnM mulltishot breech maker as well.

Suriya (Thailand guy, Exclusive Shop) will NOT make custom breeches for anyone. He is resisting the manufacture of a .22 Mrod breech that would sell like hot cakes and it was suggested a year ago. IDK why since it would be a simple change of his .25 breech, guess he sells enough of his other breeches, stocks, etc.

You might hit up the Russian guy at airgunbuy.com but I agree with Motorhead, unless you do major modifications two measly screws ain’t enough.

Just got a reply from the guys over at airgunbuy.com he can do it but then for one would be astronomical $4500. If they can make 100-150 then the cost would be alot less. Anyone wanna place an order with me lol. I can only hope bsa/gamo gets off their a** and sees that a side lever for the r10 is needed. Even better if it can be retro fitted to older R10s. Maybe add an externally adjustable regulator from huma? Am I asking for too much....

Ugh, as much as I appreciate a good side lever, and also obsess over my own custom built rifle, I won't equip it with one even though its available...if I want a side lever that bad, the cost justifies a whole new gun. Plus Side levers aren't the future. The future leans towards hammerless or of the like...(very weakly sprung hammers) which see absolutely no benefit from side levers and actually they lose their appeal nearly entirely being such long stroke and replaced by air actuated means...but eh to each their own

Matt,

If all you shoot are Marauder based custom builds (me), a side lever is a joy to operate compared to a bolt, and NOT that expensive. If your custom build is perfect for you that’s great, but side levers on inexpensive guns do seem to be the future. JMHO

Its going to be a while before all airguns ditch the hammer. I dont really think it's about cost its more of a preference. I would prefer a side lever on my R10. I have other airguns like the lelya. The R10 just happens to be in my Top 3. The stock and the feel are only surpassed by my lelya, again just personal preference. I'm not a fan of the avenger. Its to long for me.
