BSA BSA Ultta MMC. Outdated odd duck or just cool?

I have a soft spot for older BSA pcp guns. Have a few SuperTens, this MMC and a few others.

For those that don’t know the MMC has a two stage cocking with the probe and hammer being separate operations. The plunger under the tube sets the hammer and pellet probe is spring loaded with a side release button. If anyone comes across one of these be sure to use a thumb to control the probe and don’t let it fly back. They are known to snap off and I don’t think replacements are still available.

Rifle is .22 12ftlbs UK spec with a Huma shroud. Doesn’t get a ton of shots with the small tube, no gauge or regulator. Just a simple old school wood and metal rifle.

They are indeed a dated design, but also notable the lineage of the design is rather deep !! Scorpion single shots to repeaters, The R10 & Goldstar too. The push to cock design button out front had several models within the line using it, as well within the GAMO branding early on.
Generally they are a light weight nice sporter use Rifle & Carbine tho not particularly robust to take heavy use or knocking them around. Screwed together lowers were 4 sections ( Hammer housing, Valve section, air tube section & an end cap. )
Upper receiver only anchors to the lower using two 4mm screws and there is no barrel band adding additional support.

Personally have had no less than 5 over the years having massaged & modified all & even made a FT pistol from a SS Scorpion. Mixed and matched air tubes, valves, breeches and barrels too. Fun guns to play with if you have some parts & pieces.
Said parts & pieces ( New ) generally need to come out of the UK via mail order, tho a little may be found domestically from PA.

Just sharing thoughts ...

Old school cool right there. I prefer the look of the Ultras with the little can on them, but that's a personal preference. I've got a BSA Techstar I got from Cecil Whitesides estate auction some years back. I think the Techstar was the original 'inexpensive' PCP back in the day. I remember when they were on sale for $199 at Compasseco.

Gold Star SE. This also came from the AOA used page. It was cheap for an SE. They listed it as having a magazine jammed in the action and sold as is. Only thing it needed was the mag release slid forward. No idea how they didn’t know this. I did have to replace the regulator.

I did a lot of polishing and tuning on this one. It is .22 and only set to 12ftlbs but it is incredibly accurate. I wish the magazines for these were not so pricey.

That's all I got for BSA's... and of those, the only one still with me is the Techstar, though pulling those old pics made me wish I had them back! Those older BSA barrels were the cats bee-hind back in the day for long range.
I think it was a Hornet that yrrah on the OLD Yellow used to put up some great groups at 100 yards, unless I'm confusing folks.

Was this the one recently on the auction site? I had to throw my wallet in the pool to keep from doing something stupid. Haha
