Building a backstop

Hi all, 



Getting ready to build a backstop. My material consist of two 4X6 sheets of 3/4 inch treated plywood with a 4x6 sheet of 1/2 thick rubber stallmat with an additional layer of plywood or OSB and a carpet over this. All set in a 2X6 treated wood frame. My range is 30yds deep. What do you think?

You are good to go. Any potential bounce back is eliminated by angling the impact surface a few degrees toward the ground.

You never mentioned your ft/lbs of energy. Big Bore requires some rubber mulch and/or steel plate.

It really depends what you shoot at it...

As Don said, a tilt is beneficial. 15 degrees is pretty much standard and works well.

I would think after a few hundred shots you'd shoot out the center of the backstop. Am I missing something?

Most of my shooting is done at around 30 yrds too. I stuffed my pellet trap with a bunch of old bed sheets. Towels and old clothes will work just as well. None of the pellets even reach the backstop.

Built my back stop out of a 3'X3' piece of 1/2" plywood with two wings for support, on the back of the plywood I attached two thin layers of galvanized steel plates, at home my range is max 30yards, so far I have missed my pellet trap target and hit the backstop only once by accident, the 34ft/lbs .22 pellet went through the wood but prevented from going all the way out by the steel plate

Cheap xtra, a plastic box with rubber mulch to catch most of the lead and save the back stop.
