Bullpups and hunting.

That's the opposite of what I do just about every chance I get, I grab the gun by the scope. It's never been an issue for me.

I’m also a compulsive scope carrier guy. If my gun or scope can’t handle that, it belongs in the dumpster behind the shop.

I'm with you bull pups suck to carry, prefer full length guns even if they are short full length. Bull pups are just awkward.

All 6 of my PCPs including 4 bullpups have an Uncle Mike's style sling adapter cup in the stock at the rear. I use that same cup for my homemade windage and elevation adjustable monopod for bench shooting. The other end of the sling attaches to the picatinny rail on the front of the stock. They make sling pieces specifically to attach to picatinny rails. If I am getting close to a shot the gun is in my hands pointed in a safe direction. 3 of my 4 bullpups are P35s which weigh only 5 lbs unscoped. I would much rather carry a lighter gun around and I like the compactness of bullpups. To me they are just handy. I absolutely do not care to carry my Avenger. At about 4 feet in length is is just much, much, too long to be comfortable.

p35 is a gem.i Have the wood stocked 35x and used the screw in swivel studs one for a bipod. One for Sling. Use a single point sling. End up cradling it. Often. So light there is no fatique. The hawke vantage 4-12 on top is extreme light as well.

First things first, what did you do with Early. He is always my favorite for best actor in a TV drama. I use the same set up with my Stoeger XM1 Bullshark. Even use the same scope.

I'm talking about holding through the hole in the stock, Muzzle up, under the arm.
I said obsessive, not that it's entirely necessary or reasonable. I'm just nuts about touching the barrel and scope.

Shooting a barrel banded gun caused that complex. Touch the barrel enough and it changes poi. I dont know that ive personally benifitted from a barrel band on anything, in fact i think it's the opposite.

Had a revelation of sort the other day in the woods hunting. I own an alpha wolf and a wildcat bt. I love shooting bullpups but the revelation for me was they kind of suck carrying in the woods. I would much rather carry a full length rifle. I think the shortness of the bullpup is a shortcoming in the carry department. Am I crazy ?? I don’t find it comfortable carrying with the stock shoved in my armpit and gun resting over my forearm. The shortness of the gun makes it not fit. To rest it over your shoulder holding the stock in your hang just doesn’t feel as good as a long gun carried that way. Too short…. Just don’t love the AW for that situation…it’s heavy. The best way for me to carry the wildcat is just grabbing it by one of the cut outs in the stock and letting it hang down. In my mind the short gun should be better, more maneuverable. Maybe it’s just because I was brought up as a kid always using a full length rifle carrying it in one of the two ways described. Anyone else just prefer a regular rifle for carrying through the woods ?
