I thought I came across a post recently stating that the Bullshark threads were not 1/2x20 and you would need some type of adapter to run a moderator. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
Except for the standard XM1 all pcp Stoeger’s have 1/2-20 mounting from factory.I thought I came across a post recently stating that the Bullshark threads were not 1/2x20 and you would need some type of adapter to run a moderator. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
Excellent. Thank you.The Bullshark’s are indeed 1/2-20 and there is no issue mounting a moderator directly to the gun. So it not being moderator friendly is absolutely not true.
If your mod is much bigger than the shroud diameter it won’t allow the fill probe to insert.Anyone running a moderator on one of these and having any clearance issues when filling while the moderator is installed?
Well I really appreciate that. I wonder if the tapered Buckrail moderator would allow enough clearance. I have heard the Bullshark isn't bad in stock form, but I imagine I will want to quiet it down as much as possible.I am not running it with a mod, I just put it on to check clearances for you. It is a buckrail 1.5 dia sintered nylon mod. I didn’t shoot my bull shark a lot yet because I haven’t had it long and it was very cold and windy lately. I’m planning to use it as a woods walker and would like to keep it as short as possible. The moderator definitely does quiet it down though it’s not terribly loud without. I have a solution for you though.
Looks like the tapered Buckrail moderator should be a perfect fit according to the numbers listed on his site. It's 1.2" in diameter and the tapered aspect itself might allow for enough clearance to seat the fill probe. You need to either run a mod with an outside diameter of 1 1/4” / 31.5mm or less. If you want a bigger one you can always slide the shroud forward 3/16” and it will work. However you have to either remove the internal baffles completely or add an appropriate spacer to prevent them from sliding back and forth.
That walnut stock is looking great. I will certainly look into a few of those mags, I have been reading some good things. Here is a thread I started on my bull shark. I still waiting on a few parts.

I’m pretty excited about it. You need to check out the mags from Tango Sierra. His website is Big Air Precision.
Thanks for the pics. The Tanto is another option that I was looking at and seems like it would be a perfect match. Would also save me a little over an inch in total length over the Buckrail.Have to unscrew the Tatsu some to fill bottom gun. The top gun uses a Tanto and clears no problem.

Here are some more photos of the tapered base 1.2 vs the straight base 1.2 from buckrail. Both allow sections to be removed to make it shorter and you can fill the gun with the mod installed. Thanks for the pics.
