Bullying going on in the Classifieds section

So, you see an item you’d like to have, (like me and everyone on this site). The classifieds is the go to place for deals, right? So I see this item that costs $10 or $15 less than new, tried out but seller didn’t like it. Or it was an item mistakenly bought. It happens.

should I try offering a lower price to the seller? Sure, why not. If the seller is fixed on his original asking price, I politely say thank you and either go outright and buy new or just wait for another one to go on sale. No biggie. Me, personally the worse I ever did on trying to sell something was tell a person that in the end they’d be paying more if they bought parts separately than buy all of mine in kit form. No biggie.

Well, apparently for a certain individual it comes down to harassing and out right bullying the seller into giving it to him/her at the price THEY want to pay. Oh, and they turn the other cheek when the seller says “I’m gonna take a big loss with the shipping...” oh no, that person doesn’t want to hear that. He/she just wants things their way. And at the end of it all, there’s name calling, just basically harassing the seller

if I had it my way, the hammer comes down now. No more AGN for you!

No names, no items being named, just a series of events I’ve “witnessed”. Funny thing is, it isn’t the first I’ve heard of the harassment coming from this person.

If this goes on, and more complain, like everything else good, it may get taken away. The classifieds section is a great section, and it should be a friendly place.

I had similar experiences. Shame we can name scammers yet we can't name aggressive scammers. I had put up a air rifle and received an offer for the "stock only" for ~30% of the fair listed price at fair market value with a disclosed and honest sale at a loss. I figure it's just Billy Madison or his buddies or something, lol. "Oh Veronica Vaughn, want to buy the item, for 30% of the listed price." LOL.

"I am the smartest man alive!"— Billy Madison :) :)

Bigragu if he is a tin knocker its ok but and electrician or a turd chaser naaaa . Gotta remember dealing with the public is never easy i have sold a few things and never had any issues but its like buying a new car once you take it off the lot its value decreases but you as a seller has to weigh how much you wanna loose.

If the price is too close to a brand new one I just buy the new ones from the dealers that ships whatever I buy for free. I buy a lot of guns and items at a time when ordering from dealers never only one gun or single item unless it's a ridiculously priced Tier1 scope so they may charge shipping to customers who spend less money though.

I don't even reply to IMHO overpriced ads because I don't lowball sellers and at most throw a link to the cheapest place I can buy them new so they can adjust their price for the next buyer if it doesn't sell.

the last thing i would want to do is be rude to the seller. i have bought a couple rifles through airgun sites. the first thing i do is establish trust and honesty amongst ourselves. in both cases the sellers of the guns i have bought have become people who i still keep in touch with and send a pic every now and then of the latest outing with their old gun and that it found a good home.

@ BBBeef, he cant be a tin knocker, as we’re on top of a mountain that not all can climb, ha ha!!

Even if the seller wants full price as he just unboxed it from the mail but says he doesn’t want it, I’m not going to wrong him for it, it’s his choice. I see impacts everyday, less than a month old, in the classifieds being asked for close to retail price, some above retail due to some bling parts. I’m not gonna call the dude up and reason why he’s out in left field for asking that amount. It’s his gun, his choice of what he thinks it’s worth. I just look elsewhere and hope for the best. For all I know these folks selling them close to retail might not be savvy in selling high end pcp’s. it may be their first time.

I would never pay close to retail for a used gun even if they never fired it. I would rather buy new and get a warranty for just a little bit more money. Now if they have a best offer listed, then I give them an offer that is reasonable and 99% of the time the seller excepts it .I never try to get some thing dirt cheap or insult the seller. But if that’s there a solid asking price I’ll just let it go and watch them try to sell it for a long long time.

Sorry, (not sorry) but if something I have for sale is not priced well enough for you and you have to get real pushy about it... It's not for sale, to you. That's the way to go. It's business, not personal. Ignore more often when you get low ball offers. It may not be as personal as you think. But when someone becomes a pest, I just stop responding.

Coming from a fairly new member here that has had years of experience buying/selling items on eBay and PB nation as well as my everyday job, this crowd here can be a little guarded you could say. 5 out of 10 I have come in contact with are great people and the sport/hobby is very lucky to have them.
There will always be those bad apples as you say and it seems that a good majority of the site is full of great people and information.
I am thinking any bullying is probably from some/one of the many scammers that have been infiltrating the internet lately.

I mean.... you don't even have to respond or participate in the conversation.... I've had no experiences of the sort here. But if I did, I would simply stop engaging the individual. OR simply say no, and go no further

Call it what you will, I'm the same way. I'd rather keep what I have than be shortchanged. Or have my time wasted! I consider childish behavior a waste of time. OR if the individual does not comprehend what the word "firm" means

👋

Some sellers ask higher than most too because they don't mind keeping it if there are no takers and not necessarily about moving it. Say a reason to stay attached to it.

There are also buyers who have to have it RIGHT NOW rather than RIGHT TIME (for a lot cheaper I might add).

HAVE TO HAVE EVERYTHING RIGHT NOW... THE TRUE AMERICAN SYNDROME!!!

Like the saying goes waiting for MR. RIGHT... NOT MR. RIGHT NOW!!!
