I always put "Price is firm" in various classified listings if I don't want to entertain lower offers. For quite a few buyers on another venue (I have never listed anything here.), that doesn't seem to deter some of them from sending lowball offers that are often less than half my asking price.

An old friend of mine is a custom blacksmith, making gorgeous and very expensive wrought iron stairways, railings tools, kitchen gadgets, trinkets and such. Many years ago when his reputation was growing quickly, a semi famous and very rich lady asked for a bid on a spiral stairway for her summer home. He presented to her in person, a written bid. She glanced at it and handed it back to him while smiling, and asked - "What is MY Price?"
He crossed out the total with bravado and wrote down a NEW "Your Price" for her and handed it back to her across the desk. It was DOUBLE the original bid. She laughed at the "joke" and said, "OK, I will pay the original quote." He kindly let her know that the new 100% increased price was what she would have to pay if she wanted him to make the stairway. She ended up paying the new "My Price". He told her that he could tell after their little interchange that the original quote was far to low for her.
