Bullysyclone Wylie Kanz moderators... throw everything else in the trash.

Really nice work. $179 per is a bit steep... It does look like the work is probably worth it. But I got to be honest with you I don't have a gun in my stable that needs a $200 moderator. So I think I'll keep mine.

This is really a statement that applies to you and maybe others but not me and others. My buddy gets your moderators and loves them and swears by them. I chat with him frequently and always has something good to say about them.

I find my Evols NEED a $200.00 moderator. They deserve it. It's like buying a Ferrari and bolting on a replica wheel, you just don't. This is an opinion, my opinion.

Also, I will gladly pay $179.00 for this moderator than $140.00 for a donny that MIGHT work as well but will look like a Campbell's chunky soup can hanging off the end.

Size and weight are something that nobody else has brought up either and that is a concern for some. I take this into account. I don't want to be walking around with a broomstick or a paper weight.

Now the real fun would be comparing moderators not only at same price point but same size AND weight. Weight takes up resonation, this is seen in the auto industry when using weighted materials to "sound deaden" , the fact that the Wylie Kanz can reduce noise with such an incredibly light weight (which now I'm going to weigh as well) shows the design is probably superior to the heavier, larger mods out there 😀.

All that makes perfectly good sense.

One usually does get what they pay for and machining parts takes a lot of time and expertise. The advantage there is that you also get more precision than you can get with other means of production.

Comparing that product with a 3D printed moderator is a lot like comparing a BMW with a Volkswagen.

It is really good to have so many choices these days.

I look forward to hearing more about his design! 😁👍

Researching John after coming in contact with him shows he cares for his work, when people in the automotive industry from all over the world seek you out for custom built/machined parts , youve got to be good.

Having choices is a blessing and a curse with this hobbie, lmao.... but thats a discussion for another day.

Thanks for discussing rather than arguing!

With that said, the "throw it in the trash" was an attention grabber, I don't expect anyone to do this and if you do , hey more power to you.

...
Every single thing said here!! Spot on. Donny moderators are trash in my opinion and the fact people will spend $150 on them while they're made for "$1" blows my mind.
...
I find it hard to believe that Donnie FL is only spending $1 on his moderators. I don't think that's fair to him and I wonder where you got that information.

I have only owned two Donnie's a tanto and a tatsu. I preferred the Tonto over the Tatsu on rifles under 50 foot pounds. The smaller volume seem to work more efficiently but I don't really know much about how either one of them is constructed.
I would be interesting in hearing where that idea about the price to market of Donnie's moderators comes from.

Really it is all hear say (I chat with a lot of people in the industry) with no actual backing, the $1 is in quotations for that reason. Theyre mass produced in china, one can only assume his profit margins are exponentially greater than one producing here in the US with US tooling. I will not cite my sources as that would be another poop storm. With that said, the parading of made in america facade while producing in china, turned me off from his products anyway. Its unfortunate.

How does it compare to the factory moderator on the Evol Mini? Have you tried it on the Mini? I know you don't have a decibel meter but how is it in regards to loudness or tone in your opinion?
It is more quiet than the mini moderator. I put the mini mod on my hps and then the Wylie Kanz moderator on after and it's substantial. I'm going to test it on the mini this weekend.

This moderator does look good. It also looks very well-machined. Are the internals aluminum or 3D printing? Can the internals be removed for cleaning? Also, can they be made with slightly larger tolerances? I'd be concerned about clipping with such a tight tolerance, given that maybe the threading on the barrel or adapter may not be as nicely machined as this moderator.

Thanks!
