Buying a Ghost. Bottle vs. Reg limit

I'm looking at buying a BRK Ghost HP .30 cal. I wanna switch the bottle to 580cc 300 bar. But is the 250 bar stock fill limit determined by the stock bottle or the regulator? Because if it's the reg, then that would mean that no matter what bottle I got, I could never fill to 300 bar.

So I guess the elephant in the room is.....Is anyone filling their Ghost to 300 bar....period?

Got it, so no matter what bottle is on there, it could never be filled to more than 250 bar. On a .30 cal, that's unfortunate. Shot count will be really low if shooting heavy. I wanted to shoot the Zans 56gr pellets. I might get 2 mags (16 shots) tops on em though.
FYI, that extra 50 bar does not get you a linear increase in shot count... If you decide to shoot 56 ZANs at over 100 FPE, that's your choice but there are always pros and cons. It's up to the shooter to decide if the juice is worth the squeeze. I'd recommend installing a 700cc bottle...
From 300 to 250 you'd get approximately 2/3, maybe even less, of the shot count from 250 to 200 bar...

I don't know what reg pressure it would take to shoot the 56 grain pellets 860-900fps, but I would guess that pressure would have to hit at least 90fpe?

But I do see your point in that more shots are available at the lower working pressure. I noticed that with my AEA....when I fill to 4500 psi, 5 shots will take me to 4000 psi, but it would take 10 shots to get me from 3700 psi to 3000. I guess the higher pressure causes more wasted air loss.

So yeah, my only option would be to go to 700cc bottle, but it is on a compact bullpup which would make the gun front heavy (I would think?), and the bottle as long as the barrel with the moderator, lol. So maybe I would switch the stock 480 to 580cc to compromise on the weight gain. Possibly 5 more shots with that extra 100cc's???

Yes, that is approx. correct. There is no guarantee that the 56 ZAN will shoot accurately in the Ghost with the stock .30 barrel. And as you approach 900 fps you are around 100 FPE. I do know with stock .30 barrel the Ghosts that I have shot are lights out with the 44 grain JSB pellets...

I got the inspiration from Shooting Gear Reviews YouTube video of his Ghost .30 shooting the 56gr Zans, lol. I mean it was lights out....I never seen a pellet go to 200 yards with that type of accuracy....wow. I was so blown away it made me get out my credit card for a $2,000 gun, lol.

Now I know every barrel is different and mine may shoot like s***, but I just had to try, lol.

He never posted where his reg was though, or his shot count. He only posted he was shooting 900fps, so that's all I have to go on. And hence why the birth of this thread, lol.

If you believe everything you see on 'Tube, then that's up to you. You don't know what barrel he is using, really how far, how many "takes" were done, cherry picking, etc... I have a friend with a .30 Ghost that shoots JSB 44 lights out, but 56 Zan not so much.

And even on guns that do shoot the ZAN 56 well, they are no more accurate than the 44 or 50 JSB, just more consistent without sorting, plus they have an improved BC that gets them about the same as .25 Heavy pellets.
PS., did he buy those pellets, or were they given to him? That also makes a difference....

Honestly, the 200-yard group is impressive. What do the other 200-yard groups look like?

What I got out of it at 150 yards, was the 44 had a great vertical spread, but horizontal (windage) wasn't great, but then he kept the same POA. With the 56, the vertical was twice what the 44s were, but horizontal (windage) was much better. So, which of those factors can you control by shooter skill reading the wind? Think about that...

Well that's why I'm a forum man through and through. Guys like you who have real experience can set the record straight from the b.s.

Thanks for the heads up on that video being possibly a load of garbage, lol. I bought 4 packs of Zans, but I can just shoot them out of something else when they arrive. I can barrel swap my Challenger Pro which will have no problem slinging them. That gun is a power monster, lol. It's just not "refined" in areas like trigger and weight.
