Buying used air rifles (PCP)

What are some of the things a buyer has to look for in purchasing a used air rifle? I have an air arms that is about 10 years old now, and I noticed that my pressure was dropping off while just sitting which means I have a slow leak somewhere. I sent the rifle out, had the seals replaced and the rifle completely gone over.This is something that you cannot see unless the rifle is taken apart. I understand that after years of just sitting around, seals are going to start going bad.

Just what are some other things a buyer should be aware of.

There could be an issue anywhere, as a result of either normal use, or defective part. I think good advice is, either buy one that has a transferable warranty, or, be sure to pay a price that allows room for possible repairs. Nothing is a sure thing, but I find that talking to the owner often gives a sense of either comfort, or caution.

Anything can get fixed. After asking about the general condition of the AG, my first question would be if repairs were done, exactly what, and were factory parts used as replacements. Also I would ask if the current owner knows if any parts were modified, or adjusted to perform differently than it was intended to. Most Air Guns can be researched as to their performance, once modified it will either be better, or worse.

suggest talking to the seller directly. you can cover alot in a 15 minute conversation and get a better feel for things.

i have bought two of my very best and favorite guns on this forum classifieds, and forum members and got great deals and the guns are great.

No simple answer to you.

Friend of my got a second hand Walter KK500 shipped to he's door, he had several weeks of communications with a digital person. That was back in January and two months later still my guy is struggling with consistency (never had KK500 before, he is not much inclined for DIY, no parts, can't find help and a list goes on). Seeing that he's story I was hesitant to pay big bucks for a second hand Impact so I pulled my wallet for a brand new in the box.

Moral of a story, either you know a person you buying from, or you are a good mechanic not scared of just anything if you got it for a good price. Many things can go wrong especially if you don't have parts or knowledgeable people within your close location.

I purchased 3 used airguns from AOA, all 3 are great! I'm told they go through them before they are shipped. I wouldn't hesitate to order from them!
