California Folk - New eBay rule ?

I noticed recently that I cannot purchase almost anything on eBay that's airgun related. Has anyone else in CA noticed this?

This must've changed recently - earlier this year I made a few purchases.
Yes. Tech support says no issue, seller says they didn't block ca. Couldn't buy air rifles. I tried to buy an impact and a maverick with the same issues. Listing wording has to be changed. Fx impact air blower 😂

I doubt any new eBay rules, they have always prohibited sales to prohibited places. Have no idea what the rules are in cali but it could be due to sellers assuming or not knowing California rules if in fact California doesn’t ban such items. I guess it would be the safer assumption for a seller to make given where we are talking about.

It's not just airguns, it's auto parts too. Ebay is playing rule police like amazon. Certain fuel Injectors, fuel pumps, emissions parts. Etc. I had a heck of a time getting a compliant fuel Injector conversion thanks to the basic wording of the ad. I think they have computers scraping ad verbiage. They even scrape dms so you can't circumvent the fees with a seller. I tried to spend full retail on a used impact and it wouldn't let me.

Without getting too off topic, it isn't a law. Airguns arent regulated here and we have some pretty awesome airgun hunting (turkey and quail for me) so it's gotta be company policy. Also remember, if voting mattered they wouldn't let you do it. 😅. Sooo I just bought new from Utah air since ebay sellers all want full retail for fx stuff anyways. Good thing dreamlines are sanely priced new.

Yeah eBay definitely isn’t the place for FX rifles. I think I posted in another thread about some great entertainment is typing fx airgun into the eBay search and see what they are listed for 😂. Then again I guess it isn’t just there. Someone this morning listed a 600mm m3 here for 2100 🤦‍♂️. No idea how people can be so out of touch.

I
Thank you everyone that had some insightful input it looks like it's probably a new policy.

Again, really cool info about politics. I guess I found the guy that's all the fun at dinner parties
I'm one of those guys too, but in a different way. I'm all too happy to bring up the dinner ender so i can go home. Ebay is waning in it's usefulness. I use it to find people's main website and products and just go shop directly. Pretty useful in the hotrod parts realm and even new production airgun mods. Ebay is a free search engine, especially for little crosman mods.

Ebay lost my interest years ago when they turned into a retail store instead of an individual to individual sale market.

I live in Washington state and had a similar experience several weeks ago. I attempted to buy a Daisy red rider BB gun on eBay but the sale was blocked. I contacted the seller and after several minutes was told to try again. I was then able to purchase the Daisy. The seller told me the listing code was changed from pellet gun to BB gun and that other sellers had the same blocking problem when using pellet gun in the listing code.

Great to know actually I'll message the seller and see if they're willing to do that

Here we have potentially the only useful comment 🤣

FedEx gave me grief about shipping and FX Crown. I had to call it "air soft" to get it moving. That's in the real La, Louisiana.

When it comes to shipping things to the great state of CA, it's not just eBay. It's Amazon, OpticsPlanet, and a list longer than I care to type.

There have been a number of cool things I would have loved to have purchased, but a lot of the big retailer have restrictions on what can be shipped where. It has been expanded to even putting something in your shopping cart. LOL. I guess maybe it dependant on the "location" of the computer you're using to make a purchase with.
