Just acquired an Lp 53, needs re-finishing. Particularly the barrel and breech areas, which originally had some kind of paint on them. I tried stripping what was left of the original finish off and using "Aluminum black"...no good. Stripped it again and painted it with a decent rattle can paint. Looks OK but the paint is somewhat "fragile". Clearly I need to do it again. What have you all used to re-finish these pistols.
And by the way, This pistol is quite accurate. Sends a 7 grain pellet at a tad over 400fps across my garage into a 1 inch dot over and over. To me anyway, impressive.
