Did not know there was many options. To be specific a camera to record video and pictures for target shooting. a camera to attach to my scope.Sorry, what do you mean by camera optics? Are you looking to video record results of hunting, target shooting, etc? Are you wanting to film through the scope or just film the end results? OR, are you meaning a scope that can record pics or video?
thanks for the suggestion.A lot of guys use the GoPro system or similar but I found them too troublesome to set up, too expensive & too obtrusive & awkward. I personally use a Tactacam 5.0 with the FTS (Film Through Scope) mount. My objective was NOT to make high production quality videos for a YouTube channel or something like that, but to use as a diagnostic tool with slo-mo so I could see what pellets in flight were doing & what I might be doing right or wrong. My unit cost me $422 on sale (with SD card, extra battery & some other stuff. Go pro is close to $1K. You can view some of my vids at Gerry Reba on YouTube & get the idea. NOT great productions but certainly serve my purpose.
Here's one example:
appreciate the information.I have used the SideShot scope camera with the GoPro Hero 10 and I had it looking great through the phone app, but once I went shooting and took the SD card out and viewed it on the computer......the image was garbage. There must be more tweaking needed or something. Though not sure if when you are setting this system up you are doing it for a set yardage. When you are changing from 50 yards to 200 yards you don't have the option to adjust the lens on the GoPro. So something with an auto focus would be much better for quick shots.
gonna check out Tactacam and Trigger cam. thxI am looking at a few others as well. Would like something for competition shooting, as well as hunting. Something that doesn't need to be fiddled with, just attach and shoot.
I have been looking at the trigger cam 2.1 lately. Much smaller of a unit.
thx for the info.I had/have the side shot with the phone holder, the gopro with the special lens, the atn, and the tactacam FTS system. I'm thinking of getting the Triggercamone made in Africa(forgot the name)now, but that one seems to have a lot of software issues. Hopefully I can explain this correctly.
The one thing I found out was similar with all of them was me. My eyes are a bit messed up, can compensate to a certain degree but my brain does not know where absolute zero is. I found out recently with some of my scopes that if i adjust the diopter half way out ( hopefully zero?) and after then adjust the camera depth to get a good picture on my phone or tablet I will get a good picture filming. My eyes are just wacked enough that I can still see well enough thru the scope at that setting.
The second issue is zoom. The picture is only good at the zoom level you adjusted for when you used your tablet or phone. I think this is because with the scopes I use, the eye relief distance changes as you zoom the scope. I just never noticed before that my head slides closer or farther away when I zoom.
I believe theAfrican scope camTriggercam its own dial that focuses the camera without moving the scope or the camera distance from the ocular lens. This will probably still be messed up if you change the zoom, but at least it can be recorrected with the dial. Maybe mark the dial for each zoom level?
I dunno.

Oh and the ATN is basically a not so fancy camcorder with a movable retical. Zoom pass -21 is all digital and becomes more pixelated. But it can see in the dark. Daytime is good as long as you don't go into the digital zoom. There are a couple of you tubers that just use this type of camera.
And it seems with all these scopecams maybe less with the trigger cam, you have to remove the cam to put the gun in the case. So basically all the adjustments have to be re-adjusted again.

Huh? From what I can gather about the ATN scopes, they are either 3x or 5x optically and ANYTHING else is all digital.
That is why I never have even considered buying one.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the Tactacam. There IS an app for it that I only use to make sure things are centered, level & crosshairs are focused. Once that is verified the app gets turned off & it's a one button operation (on camera) to record or stop recording. Easy peasy.thanks for the suggestion.
