Can a springer hang with a pcp?

For $219 a Beeman Commander PCP in .22 destroys almost all springers in terms of power and accuracy.

Springers are a nice tool for SHTF and the power goes out and you don't have an air suppressor, or don't want to hand pump.

The fact that there are now PCP air rifles in the same price range as spring/gas-ram guns is making them a tough sell for me lately.

You will have to SHOW me on the assertion that low end PCPs "destroy" piston rifles in the accuracy department. A good piston rifle will hold 1.5 MOA at 25 yards ( 3/8" ). I have not observed low end PCPs to shoot that tight without considerable "fiddling".

Here is your target. Show me don't tell me.

That target calls for PCPs to shoot at 50 yards. Let's see your budget PCP do it at 25 before you try it at 50.

Sure. I actually did some ammo testing on my Beeman Commander .22 last week. It was shooting the 15.89 grain JSBs in the high 900s so I figured I better switch to 18-ish grain ammo. Tested H&N Hunters, H&N Hunter Extreme, H&N Barracude 18, Air Arms Diabolo 18 and JSB Diabolo 18.13 grains.

These are all 50 yard targets and 10 shots per target (full magazine). Take a look at #7 and #8. Those are the JSB 18.13 grainers. Group 4 were the Air Arms. A bit of a windy day, probably could have done slightly better on that one.

That's a nice 31 FPE in .22 caliber as well.

I'd rather take note of the 4" groups..You shot eight groups, 6 of them were huge. NONE of them were under 2 MOA.

Show me something that looks like this at 25 and l'll be impressed. By the way the grid on this target is 1 CM .. (0.4")

I just showed you 50 yard results with 6 different ammos at 50 yards on the exact gun I referenced. You want me to play games and print out your special super mini close range target and waste my time and ammo. Pretty funny response to getting BTFO by a $219 Beeman PCP. If you don't have a yard that allows you to shoot at a distance that's appropriate for shooting an air rifle - 50 yards minimum or you're wasting ammo, and you haven't bothered to zero your scope at even 25 yards, maybe try a little humility.

🥱 Whatever you go on with your bad self. Consider me properly humbled by half a dozen 3 inch (that's 6 moa BTW) groups at 50 yards. Very impressed though, no really I am...

I have both PCP's and higher-end springers. After warming up for several shots, YES, I can hold my own with my Air Arms springer duo, but surprisingly, the one I reach for the most, and the one with the most FPE in my springers, is my Sig ASP20. That is simply incredible accuracy with that one !! I wouldn't hesitate to try my hand at bench-rest competition with that one. Seriously !!

By all means, let us all know when you do stop hesitating! LOL!
