Can I put a 300 bar bottle on an impact mk2?

Saw talon tunes have for sale a 580cc 300 bar fill bottle for just under $300. I set my impact reg to 160 bar for maximum power using slug. Get about less than 50 shots before falls off reg. Would love to purchase this bottle and put my valve on it. Is it possible? The reg will regulate it to 160 bar, so I see no problem. But just want to make sure.

Biohazardman is correct that even the M3 is only rated for 250bar but many, including myself, run the 300bar on the M3 and Maverick due to the dual regulator’s on both rifles. Another caveat to this is FX is showing a 300bar bottle which was supposed to be for sale last summer for the dual regulator rifles.

Very confusing to say the least as the contradictions between what is stamped/written on the rifles versus the website and manual.

I see folks are saying 300 bar is only for the m3 impact. I do not own one nor want to fork up $2k for a gun i already have. Also even the m3 is rated for 250 bar too. I think that is due to the bottle on all impact being 250 bar fill. In the talon tunes pic they put their 300 bar bottle on the crown. Which is also a 250 bar fill gun and have only 1 reg. Also there are many pcp guns with only 1 reg that is fill to 300 bar. Look at the cheapest pcp the avenger. Its made mostly of plastic and only 1 reg with a small airtube and is fill to 300. So why these plastic $300 gun can be fill to 300 bar and a 2k gun like the impact cant is beyond me.

FX does not say you can't run it at 300 bar, many are doing it, just that it is not recommended.

It's not good to run anything close to it's max as it will always affect the durability of the unit.

I would expect the Impact will handle the pressure much better than the less expensive guns.

Still just cuz you can does not mean you should.

You can do what you want, the action is designed to handle 250bar. Simple.

Actually the action of the impact and most fx guns would not handle 250 bar. I'm 99.99% positive it would valve lock with all that pressure. Thats why there is a reg to lower the pressure so the valve and hammer will only see what the reg is. If the impact is straight up 250 bar going into the action, probably nothing will happen when that small hammer hits the valve. All fx guns are rated maximum 250 bar. That is because of the fill bottle. But fx has stated of a 300 bar fill bottle. So it will change the ball game.

In the book of the m3 under pressurization it says max pressure don't exceed 300 bar if your bottle is rated for it I read it myself in my friends m3 instructions booklet

Absolutely correct!

Here is a copy of a post I made about a month ago. Nothing has changed.

When I spoke with FX after getting my M3 they told me that with the right bottle and valve, the gun was good for 300 Bar. Note that the manual says 300 Bar max!

Here is the quote from the M3 Manual.

5.2 Pressurize
Max overall pressure in system: 300 BAR
Max air reservoir pressure: See markings on air reservoir.
Remove dust-cap (34) Close ventilation screw on the charging source.
Push the quick connector over the male connector on the gun (32)
Charge the rifle to wanted pressure without exceeding maximum pressure limit of air reservoir or main block.
You read the filling pressure on the main pressure gauge (31)
Also check the pressure on the charging source, they have in some case a more reliable gauge.
The gauges on the gun are indicators and not 100% accurate.
When you are ready with the fill you drain/bleed hose pressure on the charging source and simply release the quick connector by pulling the sleeve.
Put the dust cover back in place and you are ready.
Recharge as soon as you come to the point when tank pressure (31) is just above regulator
Output pressure (26) Do not use the gun if tank pressure is below set regulator pressure.
WARNING Only dry air should be used! Under no circumstances should Oxygen or any other gas be used to fill the air-tubes! This might result in serious injury or death!

Some people like to stay on the safe side of things which is where I land also. Even on 300bar guns I own I only fill to 250bar. Due to how compressed air works the number of shots you get from 300bar down to 250bar is less than 250bar down to 200bar. So you don't gain as much as you think.

And mentioning the Avengers, there air tube are made of titanium so they are built for that pressure. Again I wouldn't fill one there but just personal reasons. If you want more shots get a larger bottle rather than higher pressure. Go with a 700cc bottle and fill to 250bar.

I emailed FXUSA Jan 25 2022 about my M3:

Me:

Another question, the book says that the gun can operate at 300 bar yet written on the side of the gun it says max pressure 250 bar. Which is it?

FX:

And your rifle should not exceed 250 bar.

Like others have said, do what you want. FX recommends 250 bar, that's why it’s printed on the side of the gun. It will most likely affect your warranty if you have a problem and it's found to be caused from the user filling the gun.

Why the h*ll would they print it in the manual if it wasn't safe or are not going to stand behind it why the switch to 300 bar bottles and gauges when 250 bar bottles are all ready available so where the gauges it's in writing that it's the max pressure to put in the gun I get what your saying 50 bar is what another 700 psi if they don't want people to do that then it shouldn't be in the book
