Can I use slugs in a fx impact compact mk3

you can,yes

what caliber?

i have an m3 compact in .25 and out of probably 30+ different slugs,
i found 2 or 3 that shot just ok.

but none that would even approach the accuracy of 34gn king heavies.
My experience exactly, only with a MK2 compact in .25 W/ superior standard liner.
I stay with the MK2 heavies for that reason in that rifle.

In my experience, the chokes are too tight in FX barrel liners and they build up lead fast. The tight chokes also slow the slugs down considerably. Watch this video.

I'm going to watch the video, but I believe the newest superior X barrels are made to accommodate

You absolutely can! However the shorter barrels are much harder to tune so a lot of people do not have good results with them. I managed to shoot 177 slugs out of 300mm DTC barrel just fine so it can be done but I won’t tell you it’s easy.

This is shot with my crown with 500mm 177 barrel so impact can do the same thing if tuned correctly. This is 0.54 inch at 100 yards, stick with 12.5 NSA and 13.5g KO at 900ish fps.

This is FX dreamTac compact with 300mm 177 barrel shooting 12.5 NSA at lowly 760fps at 34 yards. They are BARELY stabilized but still shot pretty respectable considering the wind, all 5 shot groups.

I shoot slugs out omy 600mm Impace M3 in .25 caliber. You just have to figure out what your guns likes. In my limited experience, I have found that mine likes the lighter slugs fast, better than slower and heavier slugs. My gun seems to like the 29.5 grain Nielsen's at just under 1000fps
