Who cares if you get a gun for free and want to sell it at full retail or a little under? I guess some apparently do lol. I for one don't care if someone wants to make money on a used item. They can look elsewhere for a better price or don't buy at all. I don't see a problem with you coming on AGN to ask questions about a product you're doing a review on. Just be tactful. I agree, AGN is a great resource and you can get fast responses.

What I don't really pay attention to or don't care about is how many views a YouTuber gets or who has the best YouTube channel. When I'm interested in a product, I'm just looking for useful information and just want to be entertained. All the "behind the scenes" of being a YouTuber just goes over my head. BTW, Ezana4CE gave some great advice.

^This right here. Some people just want to complain most of us do research on items we buy so please stop crying if someone is trying to make a buck. I enjoy your videos for entertainment and if I learn something it’s a bonus.

The differences in logic or lack thereof is interesting to say the least. I was taught that a man makes his living by learning a skill. Price gouging sure as hell ain’t a skill. That’s the problem with society today; people are so focused on making money not realizing it’s just a measurement, an intermediary of barter. Nate, if making airgun videos is what you love to do then perhaps you can one day master the skills of videography, airgun analysis, and entertainment. If I were you, I’d take notes from AEAC (Steve).

" quality or success/demise of my airgun channel " Quality would (should) be the determining factor in how your sideline is going to do.

You wanted the attention so you posted the catchy title. Fine. Now if you had some actual problem with any forum member(s) I'm sure a mod would have looked into it. Or post the catchy headline, your call.

Why do people refer to "Nate" as a "kid"? He isn't hard to look up why you might find some current or past business he had/has. Replete with reviews. It was extremely clear what was what to anyone who uses critical thinking. And if you prefer not to welp "influencers" will. So be it.

I did watch part of the scope mounted backwards and ready to go video and some of the funny comments. I can see the fun in a goofy personal airgun channel. Not for me personally as if I was going to spend the time I would go for a pro review, olympic shooting or some such thing. If you enjoy goofy, fun, enthusiastic, cool. And if you like to spend your money based on such, have fun it is what airguns are primarily used for these days.

I have seen a dozen true professional airgun folks try to help ole Nate and that was just a post or two because I normally skip his posts but hate, well I am just against that and don't mind sticking up for others just like I would stand up for your 1st amendment rights even if I personally did not like what you said which is the only reason I clicked on this one.

As said, I haven't read all Nate's posts but when I have I've seen nothing hateful posted at all. Mostly just comments of folks who like being influenced (and that's fine) and some good old school people just trying to help "the kid", who isnt.

Nate if you want to do something for either money or respect simply do it well & preferably (if wanting $) be THE best. If your just having fun and finding a way for your fun not to cost you a dollar this may not be your best help yourself do so post?

Aint all that serious buddy, and I'm pretty sure thee is an ignore button/feature somewhere on this forum.

John

Short answer: No we can't 'stop the hate'.

But what is hate? Being called out publicly for a behavior which many folks don't condone is not hate, but instead can be considered a way to learn and grow.

But 'hate', real or not, is not going away in today's society:

1) The internet allows anonymized public comment, whether supportive or 'hateful';
2) Social media exists to quickly spread mis-information and hate (or at least that is the way it is currently used).

Some folks believe that a utopian society can be created where we 'all just get along'. Ain't gonna happen. Look at the history of any utopian experiment, before such information gets removed from textbooks so we can't learn from it. And it especially won't go away when groups or individuals categorize any difference of opinion by another group or individual as 'hate.'

Society needs to grow up and mature, but unfortunately with things like social media and 'reality' TV things for now are going in the opposite direction.

My .02 cents. Take it for what it's worth.

I don't have a problem with anyone making videos of themselves shooting and testing airguns. I personally think we need more of this in our niche sport. But what I think some folks are a little butt hurt about is the fact that it seems you are the one making these "findings" about gun X, when in truth that is not the case. I don't know where some of the more "well-known" content creators get there info. They maybe indeed sharing all of their knowledge amongst themselves. However, having said that, you seem to go on the forum of your choice, get tunes for gun X, and pass it off as your own finding through your own experimentation. This, as an absolute minimum, is disingenuous at best. If you are going to do that, at least have the decency to tell everyone how you acquired your findings. If you want credibility in anything in life, put in the effort on your own. As it stands right now, you are simply copying what others have already done. Anyone can do that. Blaze your own trail. Create something that's genuine and original from you. That way no one can ever take that away from you. This is not hate, just food for thought.

Keith.

The thing that got me is your statement that you only spend 30 minutes with each airgun. Based on that statement alone I would go elsewhere for reviews

How do you know what's good and what's best and what's worst if you're only spending 30 minutes shooting and then restating the words of others without verifying them through your own practice? The problem is we get all of that "this gun is really cool and look at all of its features" stuff from the manufacturers themselves... it is already in their marketing copy or videos.

Promoting that level of info as a kind of educational channel is not really helpful. That approach on top of your ridiculous pricing on pellets - Anyone would have to question your integrity. I don't think telling people to "be nice" to you in spite of this is a really good way to handle the damage. isn't all of this just result of who you are choosing to be?

Maybe your path out of this is to start writing honest reviews, or giving credit to the people who've done the research that you promote as your own, and then selling things at fair market prices? Pretty straightforward.

Prices are high on pellets. There IS a shortage! During shortages, people pay more. I've bought pellets for more than they are worth, and sold pellets for more than they are worth.

When I had to buy, i was just glad I could get them. When I sold I got flak because i was charging too much. But, it is NEVER TOO MUCH if someone else will pay your price for them!

I can understand all the points of view that I have seen in this thread. I can sympathize with those who are pissed at what they see a “price gouging” and also understand that this is simply the nature of Capitalism, namely the right price is what a willing buyer will pay.

While I also feel that Nate’s response was not the best (a little too boastful maybe, a bit insulting and arrogant) I do think that we are getting a bit carried away with all the outrage. I’m really with Peskadot671, davidsng and Camaro454. If you don’t like the price don’t buy, if you don’t like the videos, don’t watch.

Agreed. I’m not a fan of Nate, or what he’s doing right now, but this thread has gone too far. Time to get back to our normal. Programming.
