Here is an example of a carbon fiber tube taken to the max on my FX Maverick 30 cal sniper. The bipod extension works well for my friend that hunts with this rifle. He doesn't use the bipod all that much, except as a kick stand when setting the rifle down on the ground. But the extension allows him to plop the front of the rifle down on tree branches, fence posts, fallen logs, granite boulders, etc. when aiming without worrying about clobbering the bottle tank or barrel or moderator (the bipod legs can be extended fully forward beyond the end of the moderator). We call it a bash bar.
