CASA 11/22/15 FT Match Report, Angeles Range-East
The November 22nd CASA Field Target Match was held at the Angeles Shooting Range-East. Temperatures went from high-60s at the beginning of the match to the low-80s by the end. There was a light breeze for most of the match that increased a little towards the end. I would guess that wind speeds varied between 2 and 7 mph. As expected, sunny skies and low humidity.
The course consisted of twelve lanes(48-shots) with a variety of kill zones and target distances. One lane was offhand and another was kneeling. A couple of targets were elevated. The target distances were similar to those used for the California State Match but there were fewer small KZs. Course set up was done by committee as about eight of the shooters helped set it up. I really liked the variety of KZs and that fact that there were quite a few long targets.
Hunter-Piston had five entrants and John Knapp scored an outstanding 38/48. Open PCP also had five entrants and it was tight battle: one shot separated the top four competitors! Of note, three out of the top four Open PCP competitors were using Thomas rifles. A Thomas rifle took the win as well.
