CASA 12/27/15 FT Match Report, Angeles Range-East
The December 27th CASA Field Target Match was held at the Angeles Shooting Range-East. Temperatures went from mid-40s at the beginning of the match to the high-50s by the end. Winds were calm with an occasional light breeze. Mostly sunny skies and low humidity.
The course consisted of twelve lanes(48-shots) with a variety of kill zones and target distances. One lane was offhand. A couple of targets were elevated. Course setup was accomplished by the whole group sharing the workload - so much easier when everyone is helping!
Turnout was small with the match being held in the middle of the Christmas/New Year's holidays. The diehards who showed up posted some excellent scores that belie the difficulty of the course. Scores would have been far worse if the winds were stronger.
Hunter-Piston was led by John Knapp who scored an excellent 40/48 and was followed closely by Jeff Carmello(38/48). Art Burciaga decided to bring out another beautiful springer from his infinite collection but the lack of scope setup held him back. The battle of the day was in Open PCP with some outstanding scores. Ron Jobbes and Doug Miller were tied(46/48) but Doug took the win after a shoot-off. Vipha Miller and Bill Tramel were right behind the leaders. Larry Albach posted an excellent 45/48 in the Freestyle class(PCP).
