I participated in the 200 yrd big bore shoot this year at EBR and placed fifth overall. I was shooting the Bush Buck in .45 cal in a 450 gr cast bullet. The rifle is offered at the AOA store and Kip Perow is a bit of an expert with it. The shooters who placed in the first three places all used modified rifles shooting various caliber and then Kip and myself coming in 4th and 5th respectivley shooting the Bush Buck in .45 cal.
I really enjoyed the shoot and was impressed yet again how air rifles can push such a heavy round that far down range and still be accurate. I struggeled a bit during the shoot from a borrowed rifle ( mine had a problem last minute) that had a much smaller scope than my rifle so identifying ones hits was very difficult for adjustments.
If I had a vote, I would suggest the modified rifles be in a category unto themselves while the stock rifles compete on an even playing field. All-in-all if was a good time had by all and many spectators coming over to observe the match.
My prediction is that next year will be three times the number of participants and the shooting will get even better.
