Cataloging your collection

I read in a recent post somewhere of the idea of cataloging your collection. Just making a detailed list of what I own was an eye opener. It would be good to have in the event I wanted to sell what I have or when I inevitably leave this planet it would be helpful to those left to clean out my things.
Has anyone else cataloged their collection... just wondering

Yeah, probably a good idea. I started my list a few months back. I got about half way done, and it was past time for bed.
The list is as is, I haven't finished yet !!

I had a list once. Couldn't keep up with it back then.
I decided to surprise SWMBO when I kick off so never worked on it again.

Good idea to take photos while you have stuff pulled out in case of loss - theft, fire, insurance claims, police reports, etc. Supplements your written inventory.

I skipped the written inventory and just added detailed descriptions to the photos on my phone.

I am continusly updating a multiple page spreadsheet with
"pellets sizes",
"slugs sizes",
"liners specs",
"tuned and tested speeds per liners",
"current setup".

I do it for my firearms on a spreadsheet. I will look it up it's a free Xcel file. If you have enough it's worth it

I have all my PB,s and airguns in an excel spreadsheet. I Include SN, price paid, make, model, cal. And any accessories added. I do this for two reasons, theft and death. I need to take better pictures of all too and keep all the files in the same folder.

That reminds me I have two recent acquisitions I need to add.

That's my plan. Hopefully my son will want some of what I have but if not the file and the lot can be taken to a dealer.

Yeah I cataloged mine for collectors insurance which I have on my guns.

I keep telling myself that I need to organize and document the o rings I have.

I've thought about cataloging as well, but in addition to that, tying a paper tag on each gun so they can be easily identified. To my wife all the rifles look the same.

That's exactly the way I set my spreadsheet up.

Yes, registered from the beginning. In two categories. No fancy program/system, but an excel spreadsheet listing when bought, from who/company, price, caliber, serial nr, and other info if customized.
I do the same with the accessories, category 2. (scopes, mounts, silencers, stocks, bipods, fill equipment etc. etc...) Not for the ammo - just piling up those.

I do not sell, so the list is looong. This is a passion, and as you know - a black hole when it comes to economic.

I've been thinking about inventorying/cataloging my collection. I have 20-25 handguns and probably 25-30 longguns. And I just talking about my airguns here. I'm also into black powder firearms and .22 rimfire guns as well.

I use a Word doc to keep a list of each airgun, optics and accessories, and also tunes. It also reminds me continually that I need to keep the numbers in check.

I only have 12-13 so not enough to catalog, told my significant other if I go before she does to just give all my airguns to a good kid or adult with kids that will use them. Same goes for all my fishing tackle etc.

I make a folder for every airgun I own
Including cost , setup, ser#, upgrades etc
