N/A Cayden, Kratos or Avenger for first PCP?

welcome to the forum 🙂 if you are a fast learner I might be asking you questions.. I got around 8 years ago a american tactical Nova liberty 22 from airguns of Arizona and a Omega trail charger.. I'd highly recommend skipping the tank altogether and getting the Omega trail charger, while you can probably find a few a lot less money.. this compressor just works, auto shutdown for what pressure you set for, built-in water trap, and you can run it off your car battery or 120 ac.. I have only screwed down the grease pot once a year.. fills the american tactical Nova liberty in just a couple minutes, notos takes longer to push in the probe and turn on than to fill.. it takes a good 5 minutes to fill my hatsan blitz 22..
I started back in my 20s with PCP guns and got out of them in less than 5 years, was very difficult to get the scb tank filled since I don't have a dive license and don't want to be underwater.. things are different now but I am absolutely happy with the trail charger..
good luck with your airgunning and you are welcome to pm me anytime you want to.. just click on my name and select start conversation.. it similar to email.. and pm message id be happy to give you my email and phone number of you want to text or call..

Thank you for the info!! PM option not popping up yet, maybe a few more posts or reply not sure

WELCOME TO AGN!
I have the Cayden and I like it very much. It does have a bark to it ! I would recommend a moderator for sure. If the weight is an issue, use a tripod for walking and stalking scenarios. I use a Primos trigger stick tall on the f/t range I have, works great! The Cayden is very accurate, easy to work on, and shoot, and more than powerful enough for your hunting needs.

Cayden and kratos yes, avenger just felt too plasticky to me. It didnt help that my magazimes were junk when i got them. Cayden 22 shot great out of the box, kratos in .25 did ok but a recrown helped alot. Any of them could need tweaking out of the box, it will really just come down to visual appeal and roll with it.
Scotay42- I see you have a Kratos for sale but I cant PM yet, send me a PM

I looked at all three Craftsman Series offerings, and settled on the Cayden and am still glad I did. I feel it a more secure platform, with the front barrel band. VERY smooth action. But...yes, it's louder and will require the addition of a moderator of choice. Accuracy is always dead nuts on. It just seemed to shoulder better to me. My brother has the Kratos, and we traded for the day. He wanted to KEEP my Cayden !!

Talked with Rich from Airgun Revisions today. Going with the Kratos based on my intended use. He was full of good info and his prices are in my ballpark. He will go over the gun and makes a few changes/modifications he recommended. I really appreciated all the info that was given to me on here from everyone. Now to get a decent scope! The search is on👍 Any suggestions for under $200

Kratos seems like a good choice. I do not have any Kral guns (maker of the Craftsman series) but they get good reviews and they are nice looking.

I have a Yong Heng and a 45 minute SCBA tank. I think it's a good setup. The tank is easily portable and filling from a tank is very fast and nearly silent. A CS2 also seems like a reasonable choice since you can power it off your vehicle or use 110V power. You thus don't need a tank. But it will fill the gun much more slowly. A GS4 can fill a tank but will take a really long time to do it. The GS2 and 3 are not recommended to fill tanks and cannot run long enough to do it without several breaks. But with a portable compressor you don't really need a tank as I see it.

My scopes are almost all sub $200. I had to catch a good sale to get a Athlon Talos 6-24 for less than $200 but Christmas is coming and there tend to be good sales then - if you have something else you could put on for awhile. 24 power is nice for target shooting but a 4-16 is less, I believe. I also have a 4-16 Primary Arms classic and it was less than $200 last I looked. I have a West Hunter on my Avenger, I think it's also a 4-16. They are inexpensive and available with a lot of extras. My Primary Arms 4-14 was over $200 but it's a nice scope and close to $200 I think. If you definitely want to be below $200 I think the 4-16 Primary Arms would be an excellent choice but an Athlon Talos 4-16 mil dot is probably a bit better. The Athlon was $199.99 on Amazon when I Iooked just now.

I went with a sniper 4-16×44. Fit my budget and we will see how it does.

First time delving into a PCP and I don't know anyone that has one yet. Torn between the 3, would like to stay sidelever if possible. Any other suggestions, I know this has probably been asked a few times, any suggestions will be appreciated. Trying to stay under $700, I still need to buy a compressor!
