CF Tank what and where?

Have a need for CF tank. Just started looking.. I'm thinking ~98 cuft / 4500 psi.
I currently have an AL tank with a QD, gauge etc.. Appears I will need a new set up with fill hose,QD , gauge, bleeder, etc..
Looked at the usual vendors and wanted to see what I should look out for and maybe a better vendor over another.. Amazon has them UA, Pyramid, Talon, and others. Where is a good place to purchase without all the fuss gathering parts and pieces and shipping AND PRICE? Most important for me.

if you do get a scba tank, I have a fill station for one.. I got it from Airgun archery fun in Canada.. Wes is very good.. but I gave up on my scba tank and I'm not getting another one unless it's in date and certified so it can be filed and transported anywhere..
to get a new tank is out of my budget.. I've got a decent tank too, but it's out of date and has a leaking gauge..
so if you want a good deal on a fill station or want to mess with the tank I have too, just PM me and I'll give you a very good deal..
I'm just done with tanks and it's not in my budget so I'm just going to stick with my compressor to fill my guns.

Filling it will mostly determine what type of tank you can or should get. If you have a way to fill yourself, or friends that can fill for you they you can get used scba tanks on eBay, craigslist or Facebook marketplace. In this scenario, you can get expired tanks that are in good condition and after a visual inspection inside and out to determine that there is no corrosion you will be good to go. (You will have to decide if the risk although extremely small is worth it to you). I personally have both new and expired tanks myself as do many others. Another scenario, you can get used scba tanks that still have "life" in the 15 year service life in them and get them hydro tested they you should be able to have it filled at a commercial facility that fills tanks. Third scenario, you can buy new Ce certified tanks but in this option you will need to fill yourself as in the US I don't believe that any facility will touch them.
Fourth scenario you can purchase a new DOT certified tank from the many places online. This will probably be the most expensive option.
One final option that you can do is search for a 30 year scba tank and purchase that. A few months ago I found a 30 year scba tank that had current 5 year hydro done and with a remaining 25 years on it for around $362 shipped to my door. Here is what I purchased back in October of last year but mine were 2019 dated. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2864601222...gdL222drYUY9eT42ZPhtiSFss=|tkp:Bk9SR_TCtK3CZQ

I have an Aluminum SCUBA tank and I get it filled at local dive shop. I need something lighter weight to carry from vehicle to inside dive shop and back.
When you say used SCUBA tank off eBay are these the Carbon Fiber tanks? My dive shop checks my tank and others for compliance.
scba tank and scuba tank are different.. scba tank is a higher fill pressure 4500 vs the scuba tank at 3000 as I remember..
so you will find a lot of cheap scba tank on eBay.. they are used fireman breathing air tanks.. but from what I have seen most of them are carbon fiber, so they are light but they are cheap because they are out of date.. to get one that you can actually take to the shop and get filled they have to be in date and are much more expensive..
a lot of members here use out of date tanks,at their own risk and it's probably fine but they have a compressor or friend who has a compressor to fill them because dive shop will not fill if they are out of test date.. plus they have a end of life date and once it's past the end of life date you can't get them recertified..
Gerry52 who commented up earlier is the professional on this subject..
if you happen to decide get a scba tank I'll make you a good deal on the fill station.. just PM me once you have a idea what you want to do..
pyramid air also has tanks that are in date and certified but they are expensive

you explained it better than I could, while I was trying to reply..
thank you, it's good seeing people helping others.

Here is a scba fill station/adapter that I put together from 5000+ psi parts from a hydraulic shop. Fill whip with fittings are from Huma air.

One of the most important aspects will be DOT certification for the tank. If you go carbon fiber tank then it will most likely be a fireman certified type tank, DOT, and these are the safest tanks to use and must be hydro tested every 5 years. High pressure can be dangerous so keep that in mind. If money is the issue, maybe look into a 4500psi compressor like a GX series as they will cost less than a 5,000psi tank.

With that set up, would my local dive shop fill it?
I really don’t want to purchase a compressor.
From the looks of it, it is not a DOT certified tank. Highly unlikely that any dive shop or any commercial business will even touch it. I have that exact tank among my 6 or 7 that I currently have, but I fill at home using an alkin w31 I purchased about two months ago, at last year's price.

The "air independence" a compressor provides is something to experience, don't close your mind to the prospect. We'll help with information, just have to ask. Best of Luck, WM

Not DOT but it is CE . It’s good for EU, pretty sure it’ll be safe to use in the US. Get a $10 Amazon bore scope, and you can check your own tank once a year, and clean it inside, and change the main seal. I’d bet most tanks come from the same factories anyways. Tuxing is also CE not DOT, and many pcp shooters hold them inches from their face on a daily. ✌️LOL

if it's not DOT it's not going to pass the look at the label test here.. and shops don't care how much you bore scope inspect it.. they only care about what the label says and if it has a current test or certification.. a private person looking at it doesn't matter at all.. other than if you are the one filling it..
I agree with you that we all hold pressure vessels on our guns close but that's got nothing to do with the dot certificate and current hydro test requirements for a shop to commercially fill your tank.. they don't want the liability.

looks similar to the one I got from Airgun archery fun in Canada.. I've given up on having a tank.. so it's just sitting here still on my tank that has a leaking gauge..
I'm just going to use my compressor to fill my guns for now, I can't afford a new tank.. so if anyone needs a fill station for a scba tank I'll make a good deal.
