FX Changing Fx M4 from 22 to 30

Hello everyone,

I am new to air guns. I purchased from m4 sniper 700 22 caliber. I am shooting slugs 25gr. My area is a bit windy. I thought changing to higher caliber might give me an advantage with winds. Is there are any specific caliber size (25 or 30) recommended for +100yards slugs shooting .

Thanks,

Try .218 H&N 34gr Heavy slugs, or .218 H&N 33gr precision slugs. Both shoot really good for me.
I also find the.218 34gr Javelin slugs to shoot really good.
I do have the 1:16 heavy liner.
I shoot them at 970fps to 975fps
Hey,

I have gone with your recommendation H&N 34 .218 and I can see major improvement to my grouping @100 yards. One note though, i had to bump up my regulator to 150 and my shot counts went from 3 magazines in one fill to one magazine in one fill - 70% reduction. Is it the same for you ?

Thanks

You’ll be surprised how accurate the H&N are at lower speeds. I shoot 34gr out of a 700mm impact as well at 915fps (the .250 though, interesting that you have good results with .248). 130 bar, barrel on slug port, high flow pellet probe, rest stock (other than slug liner and CF sleeve of course). Gives me close to 3 mags, laser accurate. Exact same tune lets me shoot 34gr AEA pellets at 905 and it’s a scalpel with those as well. I’ll see whether I have some groups in the basement.

Edit: well, I should read better… in .22 I shoot the 30gr at 910ish, same settings as above and equally accurate…

I would try decreasing hammer spring tension with the micro adjuster a click at a time and check you fps. You probably have too much hammer spring tension, wasting air.
Stop when your fps slows, then slowly turn in valve adjuster ⅛ turn check fps, stop when it starts to drop.
If your fps is slower than you want you will have to increases reg pressure, then start the process all over.
I have have good accuracy with the H&N Heavy slugs from 930 to 1000fps.
970 to 975 gives me enough ftlbs for dispatching varmints.

You are spot on. I have dropped the regulator pressure to 140bar and then had to play with the hammer strength. I have reached a sweet spot velocity of 930-940 with a nice grouping. Not only that but also getting additional mag. You are a champ!
