N/A charging problems

I just recieved a Beeman 1357 with a FOUR UNCLES hand pump. I can't get any air into the gun. Do i have to setup the gun special? Or is there something i need to do with the pump. The 1357 still has a little pressure in it but i can't move the pressure up at all.... pumped lots of time... It's cold here in Kansas... is that a factor?

Make sure you've cocked the gun before you try to pump. That takes the hammer spring pressure off the valve seat. It may also need to be charged a bit higher before your hand pump will start filling. Sometimes if there's not enough or no pressure to seal the valve, a hand pump doesn't have enough pressure/volume at the start to get the gun to start taking air without it leaking out as fast as you pump.

Best to isolate problem. Pressure test pump with dead-head plug (pictured), inserted in female quick-disconnect at end of fill whip (hose.) (Four Uncles should have included dead-head plug.) Pressurize pump to assure proper operation and no leaks. Release pressure, after test, with bleed valve. If pump OK, problem lies with gun. WM

thanks so much for all the information!! This is the path i took to figure it out. I tried to stop the air in the pump. I didn't have a dead head. None of my efforts work... thursday my buddy came over and i show him my issues. It was the warmest day in a while... so i hooked it up and started pumping and on the third pump... it started working and i put 1500psi in the gun. But later in the day... cold again, there was nothing i could do to make it build pressure... so I took the whole thing in the house... warm. Today.. friday morning it would not pressurize again. Then with one hand i heald the quick disconnest tight into the gun... it started working. So, i seems to be just a bad connection. what do y'all say?
