Cheaper bullpup options other than the FX Impact M4 Compact in .22?

I think that you should be a guinea pig for us and pick up a Reximex Throne Gen2 Compact from Pyramyd Air. Who knows - maybe PA will have a good coupon which includes these soon, as we approach Black Friday sales.

You know that you will always get good after-sale support through Pyramyd.

No sir. Given various reviews these guns are underpowered even with the reg set to 130-140 bar shooting 14gr pellets close to 950fps

I'm new to high end airguns. I've been around ariguns since I was a kid, but just Crossman, Daisy, etc. The FX Impact M4 Compact looks like a perfect match to what I want. (Walking around backyard taking rabbits.) The only issue with it is the price.

Does anyone make a comparable bullpup that is a lot cheaper than the FX in .22 or does one have to suck it up and pay the price for an FX if you want the total package?

My wants...

power
accuracy
reliability
low weight
compact
quality build

Thanks!

AirMaks KATRAN P/C from UTAH AIRGUNS. It’s an awesome little pistol/carbine with folding stock. Weighs about 4.5 lbs.

This is a proven platform, just not popular due to low availability in the US before.

Thanks for all the ideas! I never heard of many of these guns. The problem with searching is you don't know if you will buy a dog. I'd rather get personal recommendations to avoid a problem. The Taipan sounds great. Too bad a lot of these guns are so hard to get. Why don't they import more of them?

Does anyone in the USA make great airguns?
This is what’s so interesting. Some of these guns listed are absolute tanks. Solid top of the line performers that you’d be hard pressed to find a negative topic about. But yet somehow the FX M4 is the gun that checks all the boxes for you initially because you don’t know about these other guns. FX and all their talking heads have this down to a science. Not all guys are as smart as you. Good luck with making a decision. You did the right thing by asking before jumping in the extremely deep end of the pool.

Niksan Elf Synthetic $380
If it is as good as the Niksan Ozark then it is a superb gun and a great deal.
I have an Ozark and it is consistent hole-in-hole at 40 yards.
Comes in Wood too.

You...could...your own searching ! There's only a small few good shops to look at the various guns that might suit...your liking ! Many shops that sell the same lineup of guns, but Airguns of Arizona, and Utah Airguns are the main two. Other shops may have different pricing.

As a fellow noobie like OP, this "try your own searching" line is frustrating. We don't know anything, or very little, about airguns by our own admission. Trying to search on our own can lead us to bad results and wasted time.

Ive spent hours using the search feature and read through many topics and rarely get where I need.

The reason for these kinds of responses is because we get about 2-3 questions just like this a week. And if you end up typing "what gun" or "first gun" you'll find about 1000 threads asking the same thing with a bunch of information about different platforms lol. I don't mmindnew members asking as long as what they try to narrow down what they are looking for instead of being vague and short.

I dunno, I'd say buy a low cost gun, figure out what you like and don't like empirically, then apply that to a gun that fits what you have learned.

My most expensive pcp is a Caiman X which is close to half what a new Impact costs. I like it and I think it may be a bit more accurate than the best of my under $500 gums but only a very small amount. It might be just the heavier weight helps from the bench. My favorite PCPs remain my 3 P35s. The Stoeger Bullshark is about the same gun but due to a different plastic stock it weigh 6 lbs versus the 5 lbs the P35 weighs. The barrel on the P35 is 450mm and the Bullshark is 490mm. My P35s are in 177, 22, and 25. They do not have the power potential of an impact but you don't need it for bunnies. Any of them would be fully adequate from a power and accuracy standpoint. I've shot one 200 on the 30 yard challenge with my P35-22 (and 1 with my Caiman). They are short and light and more than adequately powerful for squirrels and bunnies. I shot a squirrel this morning at 37 yards with the P35-177. DRT. They are under $500. There is also a newer P35X that has a far larger plenum and a longer barrel for more power (and a wood stock). I've had the P35-177 and 22 since early June of last year and I have not changed a single O-ring or fixed anything else on the 22. I've changed the regulator several times on the 177 which means opening it up so I've changed some O-rings but not because the gun broke. They are solid little fun guns.
