My first 22 cal Gauntlet had a bad air leak but I didn't find it soon enough for it to be returned to AGD...I started out with CO2...cost me 47 bucks to send it to Umarex, two weeks over the month warrante, but they said it was un-repairable and sent me a new one.

The new one arrived yesterday and today I installed all the fancy's I had acquired for it...Hajimoto air stripper and modulator cones, and a barrel band from William Leitz. I also got a .38 L air bottle, pin valve and shutoff valve. Total extras run around 200 bucks, but the results are excellent...~820 fs with a 14.3 gr Discovery pellet, ~21+ ftlbs ME and once I got the scope dialed in half inch groups at ~19 yds standing and leaning against the back door edge...TOTALLY not bad with my twitches and jerks and a nice trigger tune. I was dancing 12 and 20 gauge shot shells out to ~45 yds and causing havoc among the pine cones out to almost 60 yds once I figured out the drop and noted the cross hair points. Most shots would be head shots for sage rat size critters....well mostly anyhow.

NO LEAKS also.

I also received my 25 cal Daystate Air Wolf Extreme today...one day early...REALLY, TOTALLY, FAR OUT. The target that came with it...5 shots in about 3/8" at 20 yds and ave velo ~875, SD of ~3+ and spread of ~10-...I can barely get that close with my fancy benchrest powder burners and carefully crafted reloads. At least I have something to compare my targets to.



Tomorrow, Tomorrow, I luv ya, tomorrow.. it's only a day away...too long. Hahahahahaha

I think I'm gonna be happy with these two. 👍😂👍👏👽

Lots of good info on AGD and "ootoob" concerning using CO2...LOTS of shots, EZ to convert...will the "o"rings last ???...only time will tell...it seems to be OK by Umarex and recommended in several vids, I have no clue yet, not enough time in the barrel. Got about 100-150 shots from a 6 oz bottle partial fill(half a 12 oz bottle) and it still has some CO2 left....plus a 20 ozer and a 5 lb tank waiting in the wings.

Fired 10 shots over Chrony...3 error #1's...pretty much par for the beta and pellets. 7 shots had a ~10 fs spread, 815 fs to 825 fs, just over a 4 SD, pretty much samo-samo for the previous sneaky-leaky 22 cal according to my notes.

I will post a couple pics on the external mods and group maybe, on the Gauntlet...might interest someone..so much stuff out there it's hard to specialize.



I'm going nutz not being able to play with my Daystate quite yet...winter is almost here in my neck of the woods...25 at night 75 during the day...wood to cut and rigs to winterize/put away...junk to put away and pine cones to rake and burn before the snow flies. I live at 4400 ft just below a 5300 ft butte in So. Oregon, 77 year old,rode too hard and put away wet way too many times fat boy and my battery runs down before I can even get started.👎😴👺😭 ahahahahahahah.

Group size 3/16 x 3/8 CC at ~14.7 yds...plenty good for my use out to 50-60 yds. I have my yard and surrounding fields dialed in as to yardage and my scope cross hairs marked/dialed for critter size so yardage can be determined close enough for a relative high hit score.

.38 L air tank, barrel band, pin valve and shut-off. Barrel is fairly stiff connected to the tank this way. Shut-off stops any air leakage while sitting...EZ to use.

Hey...it looks a bit odd but WORKS great for me and twice the normal shot availability before top off....👍😃

Right-on...Went out today to check it out on ratz...fired three mags worth at various objects...got three ratz out to ~25-30 yds, several rocks, cans, knot holes, etc...wind was swirly, gusty 10-30 mph, unpredictable. Fired 5-6 shots at a tiny chipmunk lying flat on a rock getting the scope dialed in...it kept looking at where the pellets were hitting even hit a fence wire near its head but it didn't move until the last pellet rolled it over.

Where I live I kill 1-200 a year just around my yard...they are totally destructive to vehicle wiring, chew the heck out of just about anything they can chew on and nest in any hole they find INCLUDING getting into/chewing up vehicle seats and upholstery and causing fires when they get up tail pipes, plus they carry fleas that carry Sylvantic plague and Hanta virus and who know what else.

I have NO remorse when it comes to this critters.

These things are definitely NOT "the chipmunks" of song and comedy fame.

Yesterday I got to play with My Air Wolf a bit...7 pellets at least...5 over the Chrony with 4 errors either front or rear screen, and one 861 fs. No scope or sights so just pointed at a pine cone twice. Totally surprised at the impacts of the 25.4 gr -25 cal pellets. 



Cranked up the software bullet energy program and compared the 22 cal at 820 fs and the 25 cal at 860 fs...NOW I see why the difference...basically twice the energy for the 25 cal...~20 fs vs ~43 fs.

I also woke up tot the fact that energy increases at the square of the velocity and directly to the weight...so ~40 fs more velo and ~10 gr more weight added up to twice the power.



Went for a hunt with the Gauntlet but nothing showed...very strange. I shot a mag full at a 25 yd target and was getting 5-6" of windage which wasn't good at all so I started checking things out.. I was using my side mirror as a support along with the door frame and that was changing the barrel position slightly or changing the barrel harmonics. 

Maybe that barrel band isn't such a good idea after all so I put the forend back on which wasn't all that easy as the position of the fill port and the pressure dial is at 90° rather than at 180° as in the Ninja bottle...I had to cut out enough of the plastic around the fill port so the QD could be attached...about a 1" dia circle. Now the dial is covered by the bottom of the forend and another 1" circle needs to be cut out to see it or just not bothered with....there is well over 100 shots available before the pressure even gets down close to 2 KPSI.



I shot that small group with the barrel attached and no forend but I was holding onto the pin valve/shutoff part of the barrel with an off hand hold and hand against the door frame...no contact with the bottle or pressure on the bottle.

Never had a shooter that didn't have idiosyncrasies to workout.

Sometime today I will target again, with and without, the barrel band attached. I have a sneaky suspicion the barrel band might go the way of the Great Auk if my experience with powder guns is any indication.

GREAT BIG SH*****ET'N GRIN😁😂😃...finally got the scope and rings installed on my Air Wolf and a dozen rounds fired sighting in. This thing is going to decimate the sagerats and squirrels around here...I won't even say how fine the targets are...you'd think I'm lying. JSB 25.4's on hi power just KILLING the pine cones out to 50 yds and hardly any hold-over...~40 ftlbs is twice the 22 cal energy and it shows.

Now...my Gauntlet is just whizzing me off...so far the only pellet worth a ^&*$)( is the JSB 14.3 Exact Jumbo which is all right by me and chamber smooth as silk ...I now have several hundred pellets that are just not worth wasting the air. 14.3 Benjamin Discovery's just scatter all over the target and are hard to chamber like they are being swaged in. 14.66 H&N field target trophy copper are 3" low and 6" to the right and chamber about the same...14.3 Crosman copper group fairly well enough at 30 yds to keep in the kill zone but again way off center and would need to be re-sighted and shot up before going back to the JSB's. I did the usual...bought the cheapest and only pellets I could find locally to get started on...the Benjamin's...I weight sorted about 100 and they ran from 14.2 to 14.5 gr...I fired 10 shot groups of the 14.2 that grouped 1 1/4" at 30 yds but the 14.5 10 shots scattered. I measured the heads and skirts and those numbers were all over the place...the left-overs went down the road at 60 mph.

Anyway...every gun has it's fav's. I want to try the Air Arms Diabolo field for the 22 cal when they become available and in the interim I ordered more tins of JSB 14.3, 15.9 and 18.1's...hopefully the slightly heavier pellets won't be a waste.
