Christmas squirrel

Went to my dad's for Christmas and as usual I try to thin the herd of tree rats he has. He's a regular Clark Griswold and they've been chewing his Christmas lights pretty bad this year.

Didn't have much time but got a few groups in at 75 yards with the Kral jumbo 25. Waited to see if any nutters showed up to their nests for the evening in the huge oaks he has in the backyard.

Sure enough, my patience paid off. 3 big Grey's came in just before sunset. 2 ran up the small pines that line the west side of the property. One stood up and seen me standing there and took off, but the other 2 started to wrestle over the nest at the top of a pine about 20 yards out.

I rested against a tree and let them settle down. One stayed on the nest, the other went down about 2 branches and stopped. I trained the rifle on the one in the nest and let a baracuda 31 grain rip.

THWACK!!! Perfect base of the skull spine shot and it just dropped... stayed in the nest and didn't move. The other one in the tree took off and jumped into the tree across from me and I waited for him to settle down. He finally popped out on a nook of a branch and I ripped off another cuda through his lower right cheek and out his left ear. Dropped DRT.

Wish I could've got more today, and recovered the other, but I'm sure a hawk or a raccoon will have a good meal soon.

Also took some pics of the groups I shot. From 75 yards off the deck rail standing with a bipod, not too much wind, got some decent groups. I really want to stretch this thing out to 100-120 and see what it can do. Definitely has the power to hunt at those distances.

Left target is hades 26.54 and the right is the baracuda. The one shot off on the cuda was all me I twitched a bit. These are 10 shot groups. I think it'll do pretty good at 100.

3" targets.
