Chronograph With Bullet Hole

I shot mine also , took it apart and Emailed the company , must be a popular thing to do but the company doesn't sell the display . So i looked at the part # and manufacture . Emailed them in Japan and got a nice reply saying " we would be happy to sell you this item , Mnium order is 10.000 parts "
Sounds like a business opportunity. 😉

I have clipped my Caldwell twice. I really don't pay much attention to FPS anymore. As long as I can hit what I'm aiming at that's all I care about. I was never able to connect the Caldwell to my Android phone, Usually got consistent reading on screen. Bill
The new software doesn't work but if you get an older version (V1.5) it works perfectly. I found it on apkpure.

I put a bullet through my ProChrono a few years ago but managed to miss the internals. I took the cover off, shook out a few pieces of plastic, put a piece of black tape over the hole on the face of the chrono and it works fine. If you do anything long enough, you will eventually do something stupid. I once forgot to tighten the lug nuts on a wheel when doing brake service. The other three were fine, but I somehow missed one. In some things, three out of four isn't good enough.

I can cover mine with whatever I want to block if the need were present. The ProChorno DLX runs bluetooth to a tablet and I don't need to see the display on the chrono. But as I said... at 1' from the muzzle and consistently aiming at the same spot it's unlikely that I will shoot it. I am more apt to bump into it and the tripod knocking it over... yep, that's what happened to the first one. 🧐

Had a close call today. I was shooting a scrap of steel roofing and retuning my Prod to drop velocity and got the gun mispositioned and shot a post of my tripod mount. It's OK I think but I need to be more careful. I switched to the clamp on for the rest of the tests.

Memory gets worse as we age, Darn it!

As with many things, there are advantages of doing the same thing different ways. I have been reluctant to risk even my inexpensive chronographs trying to measure bc. I can shoot within their window essentially 100% of the time with a sighted in gun and I can see the display in my target scope I am sure but I am still reluctant. Trying to measure the velocity at the target seems like something a conventional chronograph would work better for since they have a much bigger window for shots and store the data so you don't need to look at the display right away - and some will send it back to you. If I put one down range I would protest it, however. I would not try plexiglass. Even 16 gauge steel gets dented pretty good from my airguns which are mostly not much over 30 fpe. 1/8th steel withstands the impacts well.

Or I could just get a radar based chronograph and be done with it.
