Chrono's don't agree... At all

I think the ProChrono is correct, based on my usage, and the Caldwell is known to be a crappy chrono.
I wasn't aware that it (Caldwell) was known to be a inaccurate device.. The old Chrony I had used to give me better ES but on airguns I no longer own so I never thought anything of it.
I know that after a long session yesterday, I found that airguns I had pegged as having problems with the regulators or springs were likely problems with that chronograph. The shot strings I'm getting now with those same airguns are all showing much better extreme spreads.
If I hadn't gotten tired of waiting for Caldwell to update the APP for IOS so it would finally work again.. Then bought this one, I would have not known any of this.

@MACTEN It sucks when duplicate shots aren’t picked up. Let us know how that works for you. Yesterday I had two or three duplicates in a row and it read them. That’s a first. See shots 6-8

One thing to keep in mind, be sure that your phone is charged or attached to a charging bank. Yesterday I ran mine so long that I got a low battery warning that I didn’t hear and it didn’t transmit those shots from the chrono to the phone. In fact the app wouldn’t record any shots until I cleared the message. The chronograph read those shots. I think there’s a way to transmit a thread or missed shots (that weren’t transmitted to a wireless device) to the app. I forget how to do it. Play with your chrono. It does a number of things that we paid decent money for. Also there’s a data backup function that I saw yesterday, but I’ve never used. I always export single shot strings.

I need to just sit down and read I guess. I had 6 duplicates in a row on the machine itself yesterday with the Zbroia and it only recorded one. Same thing happened on the Jager and Vixen. ( not six) My battery was fully charged as well as the chronograph's battery ( I use rechargable 9V batteries in the chrono's) I'm also not seeing FPE on the side with mine.. Instead I have to open another page to see it.

Never thought about chrono discrepancies. I thought they were calibrated in the factory?
I imagine its just software. Then maybe they mite random pull one off the line to " check" .. and if its in there + or - then its assumed all the test in between the check devices are all good as well (??) .

Then how accurate is there test bed and ehat calibrates that ..lol.

All thay can do is get the software and the electronics to run the math . This object takes x time to travel between point A and point B kinda thing.

Averaging 65 ft lbs or better seems pretty good from a pellet rifle. What caliber and weight were the pellets?

Lot of Caldwell guys with apple not happy. Mostly the app dont work or kinga works on there old device but not the other .. so cadwell has suffered using apple stuff..

Personally cadwells just was not a front runner ..lol like i said i chose a 30$ china over a on sale 64$ amazon cadwell from the software issues i read about.. the base cut and dry stuff the china gives is all i need overall anyway..

The procrno line looked better but never found a good sale at the time and prefered over cadwells. Did not see as much crying on there's..
Which chronograph did you end up getting? Working out good I take it?

Well... Lol

I was looking at the cadwell back when and the pro crony. I liked the pro best but never found a price or sale on ot and the Caldwell was 64$ amazon sale.

So i said screw it snd just got this cheap china bolt on $24?? As a get by.

Well got it used it and never looked back.
Its just mps and energy maybe somthing else but it works fine for my need . Nothing fancy like Bluetooth or printout , sexy voice overs .. lol

You know run a string get my average call it good and done.. thats about my speed of things.

Here it is with optional sun shields attached

I'd agree that the internal consistency of a chrono is more important than its accuracy to deliver real world velocity values.

🔘 However, for extreme long range shooting I'd like to know what actual velocity I'm working with. It does make a difference for ballistic calculations.

🔘 And for calculating the BC of a pellet or a slug, the actual velocity is also important.
A 25fps error between the chrono at the muzzle and the other chrono downrange can make for some pretty wrong BC numbers....! 🤣

I ran an example, and an actual BC of 0.025 could easily show up as 0.030.....
