Yesterday I received a call from CMP that they just shipped my rifle and it was to arrive Thursday before 12:00. 10:00today it arrived and I believe it’s a new gun . Not a mark or any sign of use. What a wonderful gun for such little money.

The 853’s are a great little rifle. Low powered, but great for 10m shooting. A great way to practice and improve the off hand shooting.
Not a lot to go wrong with them, and they are pretty easy to disassemble and repair.
Take a look at the trigger mod on Pilington’s.
The trigger is probably the weakest part of these nice little rifles. But can be improved some.

I went to the CMP website and it said you must be a member of a CMP affiliated gun club in order to order from them. Unfortunately my gun club is not CMP affiliated. When you ordered your 853 did they ask for proof of being a member of a CMP affiliated club?

You do not need to be a member in order to buy the refurbed 853. You can call the number or download the form and mail it or email it in as I did.

Here's mine after a little work. They are a great little rifle. If you do the trigger mod it's not a bad trigger.
