Comparing Element Titan 3-18x50 for field target against Sightrons and Athlon

A new point of interest in comparing the TWO different versions of the Element Titan 3-18X50 (34mm scope tube body) FFP / IR

MOA has 3 hold over points zero to one - or 3 tick marks before your large line (bottom picture)

MRAD has 4 hold over points zero to one - or 4 tick marks before your large line (top Picture)

what this means to my eyes and brain - is it's easier to differentiate on those dicey close range holdovers having that one extra line of markation.

Thoughts?

I much prefer the bottom reticle because of the simple numbering system. Each dash is 1 and every heavy line is numbered. I find my SIII 10-50x60 MOA-H has too few reference numbers so that it is possible to mistake which dash to use for the holdover.

I agree with you… why are they so stingy with their numbers?

How well does the Sightron S6 distinguish 55 vs 53 vs 50 yards for you? Can you tell the difference optically? Is it repeatable and crisp?

I’ve been using my S6 on top of my Redwolf HFT rig. The more I use it, even at 16 X, the more I like it. Many of my other scopes are the opposite experience. Here’s what I’ve figured out…. The S6 is so damn sensitive that even the slightest rotation can move me past my focus point. But, if I pay really close attention, I can catch the moment I pass the sweet spot and ever so slightly back up and Shazam… I’m in there. But you definitely have to practice this with the S6 to “get it”.

Learning the nuances of where & why ranging errors occur with a particular scope that might not be "Snappy" will give better pay back in better score potential than chasing an "Ideal Optic system" and not learning how to better shoot FT.
See my update @Motorhead as usual you nailed it!

I’m shooting HFT at the Shutzenfest in Boerne TX This weekend using the new S6. It will be interesting to see how well it does on an unknown course with different targets/lighting etc… stay tuned 🎯
