Complications with short rifle scopes

Thanks for posting this. Great information!!!

it totally makes sense and i know why the vector veyron and other compact scope has such narrow field of visio now. They reduced field of vision so they don’t bend the light as much so they can keep the quality of optics. And also why the high end compact scopes are 34mm tubes. Very clever actually.

Yep, compromises..... Design in this, and that suffers, even with super expensive scopes.

Saw the compromise in the March 3-24x42, though I liked the scope in a lot of ways.

See it in my March 5-42x56.

The March FX 5-40 is pretty normal but it's not very compact.

I could have lived with the compromises in the 1.5-15x42 but I didn't like the reticle offerings and mils were correct on 10X instead of 15x, if 15x I would have maybe suffered the reticle.

Thanks for posting the video @ctshooter. Everything this guy said makes perfect sense, and even correlates to something that I was noticing with the difference in between the Athlon and Nightforce parallax adjustment ranges yesterday. The Athlon, being a full sized scope, had a longer range of parallax setting for a given yardage, whereas the shorter Nightforce NX8 with it's wider magnification range the parallax adjustment was shorter and seemed more precise in getting focused at a specific yardage. Though I haven't ever shot in a field target match, I can see where using the shorter scope's more precise side focus to range a target for holdover would be beneficial to have.
