FYI, the Alkin is made in Turkey. It is a nice compressor, but be aware that it weighs 150 lbs. If you like Alkin, check out Airetex in Dallas, TX. Bruce Dobson owns the company and has served the airgun community long before hobby compressors became commonplace. Airetex compressors are made in the U.S.A. but utilize some Alkin components. Are you aware that the Air Venturi and the just announced Hatsan Lightning compressors are both made in China? I do believe that you get what you pay for in compressors as well as anything else you buy. The $350 compressors made in China will most likely fail within 100 hours of run time because guys are trying to fill large carbon fiber tanks with them when they were designed to fill PCP's directly or small 2 liter or less sized tanks. The Carette and Air Venturi compressor class of compressors in the $1300-1600 price range are actually decently made and have good distributor support in the U.S. and are worthy of consideration.

I'd rather spend $3K on a high quality compressor than $3K for one or two more PCPs but that's me. If you have the desire and the wallet to purchase a Daystate (Coltri made in Italy for Daystate) then go for it. I'd also advise you to check out a used Bauer compressor from Carlos Kuster in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. He rebuilds Bauers that were on ships for filling firefighting tanks and most have been lightly used. He puts a U.S. spec new motor on them and replaces any parts as necessary. He gives them a fresh oil change and filter in the process. Be aware that the scuba quality compressors like the Alkin, Airetex, and Bauers all are 230 volt compressors so they aren't as plug and play as the Carette, Air Venturi, or Daystate.

"Brian10956"I agree 100% with humdinger. One other option is to get in the higher end dive compressor is a gasoline engine driven pump. I like my Carette just didn't like the nickle dime experience from its distributor with shipping and surcharge for not paying cash it will finally cost over $1800....... I am glad I purchased mine from the manufacturer (i was a early bird) for $$1300 shipped I think, & purchased a Alpha filter from JB at a forum member discount=299 + $17 shipping, it would have been more if I had paid w/cc , I sent a $$ order instead & saved a few $$'s, but the Kicker is , I Explained that I was an (early bird) & when I received the Alpha ( just the filter w 1 90% male & 1 St male , (mine didn't come with a hose attached), it will not connect to the Carette (Q/C will not fit on the male Q/C ), called JB , they stated You did Not buy Carette from Us, so I still don't have a working compressor yet ( I will not use until I attach the filter), I am not sure what for positive the threads are to try modify to work , Believe me I am NOT SCAREd to say 4500Psi Scares the crap out off me. so Brian ,I am still a little less than $200 from where you are at , I have a fully optioned Carette, not sure what you have , I hope all is well, I know Humdinger REally likes his.. roger

My Carette was ordered in the beginning I was in the first pallet that they received. I only got it because of what guykuo wrote up on it in another blog. I got it fully loaded including yhe $299 Alpha deal. I’ve worked with HP air in the Navy so I know what it can do, that why I choose Carette it’s construction is well thought out. So far it’s holding up well . PCP is not a hobby for those with limited funds even if you start out with basic hardware it’s over $1000 to start out.

humdinger...I was hoping to find the real facts..and you pretty much explained it ..the way i thought..
I don't want to mess with junk down the road...spend now less headaches later..I have crown and wolverine R on order...gonna go for the daystate..get an extra carbon fiber bottle to take along..when at home just fill the bottle on the rifle no extra lg tanks...now a scope for each..my son and I can have a fun time.

A google search only turned up a foundation repair service for Carlos Kuster, could you provide more info? Thanks
