Compressor Price vs Performance

I had my mind set on buying a Alkin W31 Mariner upright in 220v but unfortunately I wasn’t able to finalize my purchase before the end of 2022… and now with the discontinuation of the $3500 manual version I am really having a difficult time committing to the additional $650 in cost.

Now I find myself trying to justify the additional $1650+ difference in cost between the 2023 Alkin’s and the close out special on Coltri MCH-6… it’s a costly dilemma, but that Coltri is sounding better by the day. Heck, I could buy a brand new FX Crown with the money I’d save!

Can anyone who recently inquired about an Alkin W31 verify that they have dropped the manual model and are only offering the fully automatic model now? That just doesn't seem logical and I'm curious to know if it's fact or internet fake news. The fully automatic model with timed moisture bleed and pressure shutoff makes sense for a business which fills several tanks per day. Those features are nice but don't get used by an individual who tops off their tank weekly or less. It's logical to assume Alkin sells manual model W31s to individual shooters much more often than full auto models. W31 unit sales will drop dramatically in 2023 if $4150 is theri lowest retail price. Compressors are getting into Rolex pricing territory when they exceed $3,500 for an individual.
Alkin latest manual model still has the auto shut off but they do offer at a substantial premium for an auto model that drains as needed.

Utah Airguns has the W31 auto shutoff model for $3,995 plus shipping. Alkin-us.com still shows the manual shutoff version available but you must request a quote.
Depending where you live and this applies to me I would need to add $450 for freight and route shipping protection. I love Utah Air but not for this. I went to Alkin direct and paid $4150 delivered.

Personally I think I'd go with the new Coltri MCH-6. I was faced with a new compressor decision a couple of months ago but not ready to spend $2,500-$3,500 so I bought an "interim" compressor - a GX-E-CS4. Very happy with it so far. $569 on Amazon right now. Very quiet, up to 5800psi and 5 hour run time. I use it mainly to top off my large 9L/88cuft carbon fiber bottle. Just topped it off from 245 bar to 310 bar in about 45 minutes without stopping for cooldown. It'll also run on either 110v AC or 12v DC. On the other side of the argument, either the Alkin or the Coltri will probably maintain all or most of their value original purchase value.

Yeah I was thinking hard about the GXE but did not pull the trigger.
