Compressor

I have an Air Venturi 4500 compressor, the big one not Nomad, that lasted 5 hours. Of course just out of warranty but I’d still fix it myself cuz cost of shipping. Both cylinders have score lines and pistons are scuffed, rings have lines in them, intake reed valve has crusty rust on it, and low pressure cylinder bore is stained like it had been underwater. I’m big on oil changes so it’s not like I abused it, always ran 3-4 minutes after filling great white. It just started pumping slower and slower until it got really pathetic, more and more oil smell and vapor in the air. Does anyone know where I can get parts? PA is no help. Easy enough to fix if I can get parts.

Another point for my side!!
My wife and I are disagreeing about the need for a truly good compressor. I was winning until she saw the price for an Alkin. Told her I would settle for a Coltri and that did not sway her.
So now my defense or offense depending on perspective is to have her read threads here about compressors.
My Nomad II made it all of 6 months and is now on it’s way back to Airventuri. When it comes back I will still not trust it.

Not sure how a $1400 compressor only last 5 hours. I have the yong heng and hatsan lighting and they lasted 3 years and still running. I did replaced the piston rings once as they took a little longer to fill but everything is still stock. Easy to get parts as all these single and twin cylinder are the same. Just look on aliexpress for cheapest price. They all all parts needed for your compressor.

I have yet to spring for a compressor so I pump. Our club has gone thru two AV compressors. They are nice but do not seem to hold up. I think the best bet is to go with either a real cheap compressor or a top of the line job. Hong Yeng or Ailkin or Bauer. Ailkin would be good for me because they are in Northern New Jersey so if it failed I could drive it there for service.

I have a used DAVV twin with on board cooling and an electronic gauge,,, nothing but problems,, it sits in a corner awaiting for me to get up the courage to take it to the recycler
Got a Coltri about 2 years ago for direct to gun filling,, I got no tanks,:(, but I am well pleased with my Coltri, and the pain of buy once, cry once has gone away and I just smile every time I use it :), now to get off my lazy rear end and go change the oil.. I have not touch it with a wrench since I first put oil in her and attached the hose fittings

I am watching all the compressor threads. Not impressed so far. Just got my second pcp and not a fan of hand pumping.
I know I do not want mess with external cooling, and portable is a need.

I will wait watch and pounce when the time is right, likely next year. That will bring an additional problem, the “Need” for a 3rd pcp!
I just bought a cheap one online. For the first time ever, I bought a 4 year warrantee extension for 40 bucks for it. Hopefully I never have to try the warrantee and hopefully it works if I do… I’m not a gambler but just bought an FX Impact 25 caliber and wasn’t looking forward to pumping it by hand, my Marauder is hard enough and I don’t shoot it that often. Now I’ll shoot a lot more!

Which one did you buy?

Threads like this make me happy I bought a YH. I tried hand pumping and I can do it but I don't want to. I tried filling guns from the YH and that is OK but I am firmly of the belief that the best setup is to fill a SCBA tank from your compressor and then fill the gun from that. I have to put up with the 15-20 minute noisy tank fill once or twice a month. But all gun fills are quick and quiet. If I want to go to the range I just take the tank.

My YH is about 18 months old so it must have 8-10 hours on it and it still works fine. When it doesn't, I will fix it and/or buy another.
