Considering to replace Leshiy 2 with Impact M3. Some questions...

I bought the Leshiy 2 about a year ago. I do like the gun. But there are a few things abut it that annoy me to the point that I will most likely sell it. Changing magazines is one of them. I am sitting at the bench, and the whole thing is a disaster with the folding stock. When the stock is folded the rifle will not stay upright. Especially, if you are on a range and others are next to you, the fiddling looks bad. Next, I find 8 shots too low for a mag. It almost kills the purpose of the semi auto. Then, the low shot count. I get around 50-60 shots with a fill. This with the standard cylinder, .22 cal, 250mm barrel, factory tune. Finally, I find it a bit too loud even with the MOD40. It does look great with the MOD40 though and the aluminum guard. I also like that it is light, portable, and accurate. The same auto aspect is fun too.

So I am going to sell the L2, and order an Impact M3. What attracts me about the M3 is the shot count, mag size, and the ability to easily tune it.

Question for Impact M3 guys:

1. FX shows the Impact getting "up to" 330 shots with .22 pellets. I guess that is with the 580 cc bottle, and some very low pressure for some light pellets. What do you guys get at 890 fps with a .22 18.1 grain? Sniper vs Standard?

2. The M3 is a good bit heavier than the L2. How does it feel to walk around with the gun?

3. Did you measure the dB of your M3 at around 890 fps? If so, please post it.

Thanks for the help!

So, this is just my subjective opinion, and I am sure that others have had different experiences with these two guns. But here goes:

First of all, I hyave both the L2 as well as a couple of Impacts. My experience with the L2 is the same as yours regarding the magazine and loading. It's a PITA. You can see my comments here : https://www.airgunnation.com/thread...ns-huben-k1-leshiy-2-and-steyr-pro-x.1094391/

1. I don't care what FX shows for the Impact, I certainly don't get 330 shots from my M3 Sniper when I have it set up in .22. At the same time, its fair to say that I don't ever really shoot the gun down to the pressure of the second reg. (which was at just over 90 Bar when i had it set up in .22). However I easily got 4 full magazines (112 pellets) of FX 25.4 grain pellets at an average of 881 FPS. That's just the most I've ever shot at one time without a refill, not the max it will do. I'm sure it could do more, and this is a heavier pellet than the 18.1, but I struggle to see it getting 3X that number of pellets at any power level that I would want. YMMV.

2. The Impact, especially set up in Sniper configuration with a 580cc bottle and a 700mm barrel is a fair bit heavier than the L2 in almost any config you could choose. A better comparison might be between the M3 Compact and the L2. Still heavier, but not by much, not much difference in overall length either, especially with a full size MOd40 hung off the front of the L2. All in all, I do not find the Impact too hard to walk around with, in any configuration. but it is definitely a bit "more" gun than the L2 in standard configuration.

3: I have not measured my M3's moderator performance when I had one set up in .22 I can say that it is much less noisy than the L2, regardless of configuration. This is even more true if the L2 is in one of the short barreled configs. Even with a full size MOD40 on my 350mm .25 L2 it was still fairly loud. Not obnoxious, but loud enough. Without the mod it sounded like a .22 rimfire! (as an aside, my L2 is now set up with a .30 cal 600mm FX barrel and a 480cc FX bottle. It's a lot quieter with the longer barrel, despite a LOT more power.)
I did measure (using the NIOSH iOS app and an external Blue Yeti microphone) my MK2 Impact set up as a .25 Sniper and got the following:

No Moderator
LAeq 95.1 dB
Max 111.3 dB
TWA 59.2 dB
Proj. Dose 936%

FX by DonnyFL
LAeq 88.9 dB
Max 108.4 dB
TWA 56.2 dB
Proj. Dose 416%

I recall that LAeq is the L weighted average and TWA is Time weighted average, while Projected Dose is what it would be IF you were to listen to that loud a sound for 8 hours (kind of irrelevant, but its one more comparator. You can read up about it at the NIOSH site).

Hope this helps.

The impact compact with a light compact scope is not much heavier and great to walk around with, I actually think it’s just one of the best because bullpups are made to walk around with. It’s especially good with a single point sling toward back of the rail, the gun naturally pointed down and super comfy in fron or on the side.

When it comes to sound it’s all in the tune and impact can be tune to just about anything you would ever want. My impact can shoot pellets at 900fps very quietly, WAY quieter than most guns especially RAW and L2, for the most part I hear the hammer more than anything.

So basically I can expect 4-5 mags from the standard size 480cc. That is great. 130-150 shots. I was between the standard and the sniper. But based on this, I think the standard will be plenty.

I am glad to hear that it is portable still, and quieter than the L2.

Thanks for all the replies. This is exactly the info I was after. What a great forum we have here!
