Coon got Bulldogged on a Hog Hunt

I’ve been on these hogs for about 2 hours. I heard a lot and jumped one just before 5pm. Ran across this fella while looking for the sounder after dusk.

Looks like a neck shot with a 140 Griffin rebated boattail hollow point slug. It didn’t dance long.

Shot out of one of the trees on the right.

She was shot off of the tree and fell into the mud in this creek bed, just missing the stream of water.

Now back to these hogs.

Done for the night. It got cold and temps still dropping. I don’t think they’re doing much in this cold weather. These hogs live in some of the nastiest brush I’ve ever been in. Growing up we sent the dogs in this stuff. Rough terrain but good times nonetheless. All I got was the coon and didn’t see much else concerning hogs after it got dark. Tried to get another coon but I couldn’t get a range in it. By the time I got close to it I’d made enough noise to run it back in the woods. I was trying to run it up a tree. I was unable to coax it back out of the woods.

Good shooting!!!!! I,m sure you will find the hogs on the next outing.......
@RM.510bigbore Thank you. It's only a matter of time before I get some hogs. I'm improving in certain areas. I have to work on the anxiety. It's a hairy situation when I have multiple large animals moving around close to me and I cannot see them.

Careful, you'll put an eye out with that gun :ROFLMAO:
@Gerry52 You know what? This isn’t the first time you made that type of joke about something I shot. It is a reminder that over the past few years that I’ve been posting I’ve made several brain shots through the eye. I wonder if it’s a subconscious habit. Whatever it is, it is effective when the angle is right. I wonder if blowing out the back of the neck kept the other eye from bulging.

Won't get into the psychological aspects of your shooting Dave because then I'd have examine why I like long rifles better than bullpups  🤪
I've made so many "eye shots" over the years but those aren't the ones that I remember causing "eye bulge". THAT usually happens with a between the eyes shot or top of the skull shot. Now you'll have me pondering the physics of it. Guess that's better than pondering the Freudian aspects of my preference for long guns (but Freud DID say "sometimes a cigar is just a cigar").
