Correct Process for Installing a Valve on a SCBA Tank

Ditto to what charlie99 said.
To add a little. When I was trained in Chicago for inspecting high pressure vessels we were told to just put enough silicone grease on the O ring to make it shiny, not gobs of it. We also put a small amount on the male threads of the valve to prevent galvanic corrosion. But if your tank and valve are both aluminum alloy, that’s not necessary but can’t hurt if you do it anyway. Just a light film coating.

Thanks for the responses. It dawned on me that I should call Joe at Topgun Airguns and see how they install the valves and it was the same thing as shared above. A little silicone oil or silicone grease on the o-ring, thread the valve on (no lube or anti-seize on the threads) hand tight and that is it.

I'm going to fill the tank tomorrow.
