Correction: PA is still great and so is FX - Pyramydair - FX Maverick VP purchase. Not the “out of the box, shoot ready” I assumed

I just made an upwards of $2,000 purchase with pyramydair and was a bit disappointed with the gun that was delivered.

Let me start by saying everything arrived VERY fast and support, throughout my purchase process was great on the website.

Now to the Maverick VP I was sent… the trigger was set to less then a hair trigger, single stage. How is this safe? Is this an FX thing or a PA thing? I purchased the 10 for $10 as well in hopes that IF there were any issues from FX, PA would help avoided it. This was not the case.

The 10 for $10 was tested with a .25 pellet that I don’t think anyone will ever shoot out of an FX Maverick .25, it was a 20.75g alloy pellet…. Really? Not, at minimum, a JSB 25g variant? Also, it asked, when I added the Maverick to my cart, if I wanted to add a hard case… I clicked yes… but they both arrived, same day/same time, in separate boxes. maybe I just assumed wrong that it would be shipped in the protective hard case.

Everything else I ordered (additional mags, and A LOT of pellets/slugs) arrived timely, like the airgun, and have no complaints there.

I have set the trigger myself and am very happy with it now. My chronograph should be arriving today and I’m going to adjust the regs/hammer from the delivered 150/110, PW 7 IHS(who knows) to Reg 95/70, PW (as low as possible), IHS (as low as possible). Going to start there for JSB 25g & 34g, see where I’m at, an increase until I’m getting the velocity, ES and SD that’s acceptable.

Any recommendations, aside from AEAC’s 2 hour guide that I have watched 3-4 times already (lol), are appreciated!!

Steve's guide helped me with setting up my maverick .25 sniper.
its a little tough at first, but it will grow on you.
i tuned for power and accuracy for distance hunting.
good luck with yours !! (y)
Thank you! I love it, was just a bit disappointed it shipped the way it did. All-in-all I’m pumped and can’t wait to see what I can get from it. 10,000% upgrade from the gauntlet I bought when I knew next to nothing lol.

Cheers

Congrats on your Maverick purchase. Please reach out if there's any issues as we're happy to help. The trigger is concerning to us as all our triggers are set at around 16oz two stage from the factory and the trigger being one stage is concerning. Like we said if you have any issues please reach out to US customer support at 1-866-639-0772

Hey folks, I purchased a M3 .35 a few months ago from Airgun Warehouse. The trigger was the same way. If you looked at the trigger, it would fire. The FX manual will not go into detail on how to adjust the trigger because of liability issues. I loosened the wrong screw. The trigger assy came out and I lost the spring. I ordered 2 and Fx sent them free of charge. So once removed, I saw how the trigger operated. Now it is two stage. Kinda gritty but 2 stage. Now if I can get the pellet probe to stay tight,I’ll have a winner! That rifle is powerful!

Most of your complaints are an fx thing. As far as the 10 for 10 what difference does it make what pellet they use? It is nothing more than a functionality test. Waste of 10 dollars honestly but you figured that out now. I have no idea how you would ever expect PA to adjust a trigger? I would just send it back if not happy and maybe buy another brand but a PA bash thread was completely un warranted here

Thank you. When I said single stage, what it essentially was, was the set screw that sets second stage break was set so light it essentially felt like a single stage hair trigger. Retracted the 2nd stage break set screw about 7/8 of a turn and increased 1st stage travel. Now have a clear 1st stage and clean break on the second at about 18oz (have about 3/8 of travel in the first stage).

Thank you for the input and I guess you’re right on the pellet weight, just nitpicking after the trigger issue. PA has the 25 for $25 option and if I’m not mistaken mounting, zeroing and adjustments were included. I will stand by my comment about them certifying/allowing this rifle out the door, after shooting it themselves. Issues and malfunctions happen, send it back to FX and go pull another off the shelf. If they didn’t shoot it, ok fine but they did.

I have corrected the trigger issue myself, I have nothing against PA and will continue to use/purchase from them. As I said in my original post - they were very responsive and helpful and shipped my order super quick.

Cheers

I chalked up the $10 for 10 @ PA as a waste of my money. My first PCP purchase was a Crown Continuum from PA. The rifle arrived leaking right out of the box. I called PA for support, and they told me to call FX. Moral of the story?
