Couplings for filling tanks

I see that many say they have a "foster" or "Foster" coupling to fill the reservoir on their pcp(s).

I have two rifles that utilize a quick coupler (aka QD).

I looked at the coupler that came with my Air Arms years ago and the coupler and plug are "FASTER" branded.

With some research; the nipple is a ISO 7241/B 

Faster part number for coupler is: HNV 18GASF-010

Faster part number for plug( Nipple) HNV 18GASM-02G

Would I be correct in saying that the term "foster" is used as a generic term for a QD?

foster is the design and its used generically yes .. theyre 8mm foster, but there is no absolute standard on all dimensions though and this is a major concern as of late discussions .. suffice it to say that not all brands and makes will be 100% compatible or safe .. if you got an air arms coupler and need to buy another fitting to go with it, best to get an air arms ..

@dizzums. I think you are correct sir. I believe the word / term “foster” is substituted / used, to say or imply “coupler.” Maybe its origin is a military thing? I would concur that “Foster” is a manufacture same as Faster, Milton, CEJN and others. And yes some of the couplers I’ve seen have different nipple profiles. 

i have used the “Faster” (made in Italy) supplied coupler for years without issue.
