N/A Craziest build/worse build

What’s your craziest PCP build? What did it cost you? Purpose of the build? What was your dumbest build?

Heres mine. PROD with a DNT Zulus with a DFL Ronin on. At first I had put it on just to laugh at it but it honestly works pretty good. Looks funky. 😂 Purpose is to get these pesky rabbits at night. I have to be silent as I live in the suburbs with a 25 yard max shot. Shooting CPHP 14.3gr at 650fps.

Well, there is that. They hit really hard. At 3am everything is really loud LOL.
I need an optic like that.

My 1720 is set to run 9.3 RWS about 680fps and is even quieter. No kills yet with this one.

I haven't done any night hunts yet... I don't really know what to expect except watching those UK folks shooting rabbits with their 12 ft lbs rifles. I would assume it'll be quiet similar with the PROD.

Gotta start somewhere. Lol
I didn't leave that on the gun long. PETG filament was not a good material for that stock. The point where the white tube inserts is weak. I may try it again with a carbon fiber infused filament.

The big bottle and regulator were on the rifle already and are still there. Scope, rings, bottle, regulator take a heavy gun and turn it into a gun capable of being used as a boat anchor. Around 17lbs. But I generally shoot off a heavy tripod.

Buck rail made a poor man’s buffer tube from 3D printing. It’s pretty solid. Not sure what he used but it’s still holding strong.

Nice Prod! That husher looks ridiculous and sweet at same time haha. I have two P-Rods, they are blast to mess with. I just modded/regulated my 2nd one and going to put it in a wood stock. I have guns costing triple but my PRods are still some of my favorites.

Happy shooting
Rob

That wood stock looks amazing. Is this all custom work or is there a kit to buy and install the reg?

Thanks. The Reg is a Huma. The reg itself is pretty easy to install. Although it just drops in, you won’t get the real potential without other mods. Will at least have to open transfer port and change hammer spring. That’ll get you good results with a proper tune. You can get those basics from Tim Hill(hs&tp).
I did valve work to mine. It’ll get 24 shots at 18-18 1/2 fpe. It’s been a never ending project lol

Sounds like a big investment too. I can't justify modifying a gun more than it's worth. And for clarification, when I say modifying I mean more than adding attachments. Just my opinion... lol.

Oh yea it can be an expensive rabbit hole. You’ll never get your money back when you sell either. I’ts just fun to build/tune more than anything. I like tinkering with them as much as shooting.
It’s really hard to beat those P-rods for a light weight pester. Such a simple and reliable gun.

Happy shooting

Yes, modding a gun way beyond what it’s worth was very popular when we bought guns that were so far from their potential. Now it’s evolved into bolt on do-dads that pretty much do the same. It’s cool that there are still guns being produced that let a guy set money on fire but there is satisfaction in the results. It’s very educational and rewarding versus just bolting on crap. Back in 2017 I built a P15. When I was done I had exceeded what I paid for my Taipan. I still have the gun. If someone would shoot it, they would pay a lot more for it than what I could sell it for in the classifieds. But that’s not how it works so I’ll keep it.

I went through the Prod phase also. Reinvented the gun several times then eventually sold it for probably a substantial loss. No biggie. Someone got a cool gun.
