Kalibrgun Cricket 1 vs 2

Hello guys, I have been into airguns for a few years, started off on the james ketchings fun supply forum back in the day and the yellow forum.

Been off and on with airguns due to life and such. Recently joined gateway to airguns and today joined this forum to get back into it.

Looking to buy a high end bullpup as a hunter. Currently have an air arms 410 old model, accurate as heck but a bit heavy and long. Also have a talon ss(first pcp 20 years ago) that i recently got working and installed a reg on. Like the size but power with the reg is a bit low and urganomics is bad

So figure bite the bullet and buy once cry once lol

I have decided on getting a cricket and was planning on a cricket 2 .22 from charlie at Georgia airguns. Very nice guy and helpful.

Tempted on the cricket mini as its nice looking and 300 bucks cheaper at 1550 on sale. But already have a rifle and its a bit lower power than cricket 2.

However i have seen a few cricket 1s on the classified here for MUCH cheaper. So I was thinking maybe buy a used cricket 1 and send it to Charlie to work his magic. However besides the cocking lever being moved to the front, what are the differences between the cricket 1 and 2 ? Is the cricket 2 much improved?

I cant find any comparisons it seems and not much info on crickets in general. Most seem to be about the tactical model(not interested) or people talking about the 25 cals shooting slugs.

So does anybody have any info on differences between them? Is a new gen 2 worth 700 bucks or so more than a used cricket 1? I will be shooting pellets and maybe try out slugs for fun but if slugs dont shoot well not really worried.

Here's one that was just tuned by Charlie.

I personally like the rear cocker Gen1s. Same with the Taipans. Not that the newer ones aren't good but just a personal thing with simplicity.

The Cricket 2 has a very noticeable "ping" and is a bit louder. Cricket 1 is just as accurate as Cricket 2. I think used Cricket 1 in the 800 dollar range is the best deal for a great bullpup,.from what Ive seen, Cricket 1 has a better finished stock. Having said that, I would sell my Cricket .22. I have a Vulcan 1 that I prefer over the Cricket. Either way, you cant go wrong with Crickets

Thanks. Yeah i have looked but its in .25 which isnt what im looking for. Im thinking keep it .22 as it should have he power i want for what i hunt and be easier to make backyard friendly.cheaper ammo also.
Not sure how cheap or easy to swap barrels on them.

I have the first edition .22 compact tuned by Charlie. Magnificent little, gun and top notch accuracy. Don't think you could go wrong with either.

I've still got a original cricket, .22 from 2016.
Still one of my most accurate purchases.
To date I have changed 1 o ring.
Personally I've never needed to try the later version. Nothing about the original cricket I dislike.
Every time I'm feeling low or peeed off with some other rifle the cricket always gives me the smile again factor.
The original cricket is a future classic.

Go grab a original cricket.

I have a .22 gen 2 shorty, will shoot nsa 17.5 in .2155 moa and submoa at 100yd, it also like the atomics, 18.13 and 15.89. I have it posted on the classifieds for about $1050 shipped and tuned by charlie.

Dang i just bought one from another member on here and sent it to charlie.
Damn lol, well you won't be disappointed. While you wait for it to come back get yourself a box of nsa 17.5 in .2155 and .216 and see which shoots best. I got the .2155 only because one of the local airguns stores here only had 1 box left and it was this size. I've had mixed resukts with the 21gr javelins sometimes it would group greatly, sometimes it wouldn't. But still the ammo is too expensive comparatively and these are bang on.

Don’t rule out the original Veteran, I own both the Gen 1 Cricket and the Taipan. They are equally accurate but the Vet has a MUCH better trigger and the anti double feed is the bomb! Actually, the Veteran is a better made gun. Good deals can be found on here from time to time. I’ve bought 3 for friends of mine that shot mine and had to have one.
