Cricket 9mm is coming together

I would keep the barrel as short as possible and scale the power with air pressure. An 800mm FX liner is going to introduce a whole new world of problems that defeat the pupose, if you know what I mean.

Now if you can setup a barrel to run .358 ammo nice and tight, that would also help increase velocity. For pressure, I would think 215bar minimum for 125gr, but that might not be the right / safe platform for pressure that high.
Well today I had some time to test the 125gr nsa. I opened up the ports some more to max that material will allow and bumped the reg to 170 bar. Got 867fps or 210fpe so thats great! 300 bar fil down to the reg got me 9 shots plus a couple follow ups only slightly lower velocity so Im pretty happy with it. Now to test accuracy….

Well after a week of testing lots and lots of different things Ive come to the conclustion that getting over 200fpe from only 23 ( or less) inches of barrel regulated is no easy task. I locked it down here:
81gr jsb at 975 fps
93gr nsa at 880 fps
125gr nsa at 750 fps

Reg is set at 160 bar, heavy spring from a taipan, free floating hammer thats stock weight. Its deadly accurate, I get just about 2 full mags. 15 shots are full power with single digit spread and the last 3 shots only decline a max of 20fps. I made a really cool shroud thats at annodize right now so I’ll post those pics when its done. Should be waaaay quieter with the option of an emperror if needed. Overall, im pleased with it! Someday when fx comes out with a 800mm slug barrel I may go that route and will easily hit over 200fpe.

Just took 3 shots w nsa 110gr at 100 yards. Pretty happy w that! I forgot the allen wrench and my scope is bottom out from the zero stop… chrono showed 844,839,840.

There is a built in YouTube ..of a 9mm cricket with a 850mm barrel..really good looking built..it seems like a hole in hole gun..I imagine is a bit heavy, he used a reduced bull barrel..
I actually did see that one! Pretty cool. Im very suprised this barrel shoots pellets this fast being a 16 twist. If tj’s ever decides to answer me back, I might order a blank from them.

Heres some valve pics. The jets basically control your lift and dwell. Going too small makes the valve lazy, but will open with very little hammer strike. Too big and it slams shut too fast and needs a heavier hammer strike. Finding the sweet spot makes the valve “ tunable” using the hammer spring. It honestly takes hours of tinkering, but worth it! Also, I havent messed with the hammer weight, stock around 36 grams. The combinations are almost endless, but I settled on a free flight hammer thats super easy to cock now with way more power than factory. Materials used are 17-4, peek, drill rod, 90d cast urethane o rings. Dims of poppet are .380/.250

That's a pretty good hunting rig group right there! Any luck with getting a TJ's barrel to mess with? Since you like to tinker, some food for thought... I've often wondered what one could do with tuning a barrel's length to the gun's power and projectile. Once a desired balance of max power and shot count is achieved (as you have done here) then the ideal length is worked on based on velocity and accuracy.

I ordered a 26 twist 31” blank. I prob wont get to it this season though. I would expect 100+ more fps, around 220fpe. However, I just sent off a really really cool shroud assembly to get hard annodized. Its very similar to a donnyfl core, with some changes. The inner core is 11” of baffles, 1.25 dia, and has a m18x1 on the end to add an additional ldc. Id loose all that with a longer barrel. I did figure out that leaving the hammer and spring alone and just swapping jets can take power to 190fpe, down to 65fpe. A jet around .058” makes 90fpe with pellets and is alot of fun! Super high shot count and wicked accurate. If I was clever enough to swap the jetting with a needle and seat and make it externally adjustable, Id be on to something lol
