Being the new standard in accuracy is ten shots(thanks Ted) I went out yesterday to shoot some 10 shot groups at 50 yards with a 177 Cricket Compact. Most groups were sub quarters and a couple were sub dimes. Winds were 3 -5 mph.

Great shooting and accurate rifle! I agree, the new group size should be near 10. I shot recently a few 5 pellet groups that were quite excellent but when continued to 10 shots total I had to dial back a bit my euphoria 
What was the pellet velocity? Did you stretch it out to 75 yards yet?

Thanks fe7565. The Cricket shoots the 10.3's at 900 fps. It is a very accurate at that speed. I have tried shooting further but groups open up after 55 yards, even with weighed/measured 10.3 pellets. I have another gun that shoots the 177 JSB 13.4's at 910 fps and have gotten decent groups out to 65 yards with it.

Wondering if the groups open up at longer distances because of the relatively light .177 pellets lose energy (i,e. stability in flight)? The 13.4gr JSB pellet is almost .22 pellet-weight and maybe that's why it groups better from the other rifle?!

From my experience the lighter 177 pellets are good for 1/2 inch groups out to 55 yards outdoors. I have seen indoor matches on you-tube where 177's springers shot 2 - 3 inch groups at 100 yards indoors.
With an accurate 22 shooting 18.1's I have shot dime size groups out to 75 yards(not often). Video last summer of the 22 shooting at 65 and 70 yards. I made the video because my buddy didnt believe quarter groups were possible with a 22 pellet gun at 75 yards. So I walked the 75 yards on video.

Yes, I remember that video from the Netherlands from somewhere. Was very impressed with springers going out that far. I once (back in the late 80's) took my RSW 54 Airking out to 70 yards and probably got lucky with a 3 inch group once....and that was with the not so good RWS pellets. Do not think JSB was around then, at least I didn't know about it..
I like the Cricket carbine..great rifle-option in almost a bullpup size. Have a Vulcan and Mutant and they are both very accurate out of the box. The Mutant seems a bit more refined as far as powerplant, wonder how the Cricket compares.
