Crosman 1377 or 1322 - is one more "back-yard" friendly than the other?

I'm looking around for my first air pistol and like the reviews I've seen on YT about these two. Since I have no experience with either, I'm hoping someone on here does.

I only plan to plink with it, not hunt - out to about 35 yards. I was wondering which of the two was least loud, and easiest to pump - I'm thinking it would be the .177 cal, 1377. Or are both/neither suitable for back-yard shooting (thinking of the neighbors).

I have a number of air rifles and think this pistol would be fun. I'm 70+ years old and know I'm not as strong as I once was, that's why I asked about their ease of pumping. I have several springers (including a Diana 460 Mag), but I'm thinking the technique needed to pump an air pistol is different that what I do to cock a springer.

I have 4 grand children, the oldest is a 7-year old grandson, and think it would also be a good tool to use to reinforce the things my sons teach them about gun safety and gun skills. These pistols are also a lot less costly than, say a p-rod.

So, which would you recommend?

Thanks, Bobby

Get the 1322 and shoot heavy pellets with 8 or 10 pumps, the more pumps the harder they get.. Or get the 1322 shoot light pellets and only use 3 pumps. They both have a "snap" If it's to noisy get a hold of me and I'll send you a home made can for 10 bucks plus shipping. That's what it costs me to make one and you are welcome to try it out and if you dont like it just send it back to me. Your 70+ years old, get the 1322. Bigger pellets are easier to handle, A little more power if in the future someone wants to hunt/pest with it, for you go with 3 or 4 pumps.

I'm 67, have arthritis in a lot of places and enjoy a 2240XL pistol to goof around with.. 45 or so shots, no pumping, and cheap. 2240 is about 70 bucks, the 2240XL is around 100 but comes with a steel breach and a threaded barrel for a can. Drawback to the XL is that there are NO SIGHTS SUPPLIED.

Feel free to contact me should you need that can.

The 1322 I have is definitely back yard quiet with the DonnyFL Sumo on it. My neighbor can sit on her back porch 15 feet away from me, on the other side of my fence and has no idea I just eliminated a backyard pest.

Did you have to buy an adaptor to put the SUMO on it?

I just shot off an email to Donny. I already own a TANTO and a SUMO.

Yes I did. The adaptor I bought has the 1/2 x 20 threads that match my Sumo from another gun. Long story short, I did the steel breech, then a 14 inch barrel. Had an extra Sumo in the gun safe and figured why not? The adaptor is a snug fit but is secured by a grub screw. I bought if off ebay and it came from overseas so it took a little while to get here.

It's ugly in my opinion, but it was built for a purpose. Its super quiet, shoots a dime size group at 18 yards (porch to squirrel distance) and never gives a pass thru. My pellet to confirmed squirrel elimination is 6 out of 7. The miss was my fault.

His should have an adapter or a threaded barrel band for the LDC to screw on.

If you are going to buy an adapter from Donny, provided that your barrel is at least 2” longer than standard, be sure to get the one for the Disco.

22xx/13xx barrels are 11.05mm, so the 11mm that he has won’t work.

Mine is 177 and a lot quieter than my MAC1 22 steroided version.

Heres My 177 only did a DIY flat top piston and hammer and trigger mods and added on some stuff. It's one of my beater trunk guns. Scope is a POS and the FX No Limits Rings cost more than the gun but it NEEDED adjustable rings to zero the MTC VIPER PRO.

It's not offensively loud at 5 to 6 pumps and powerful enough for plinking no need for 10 pumps you will see unless you need to pop birds past 30+ yards I saw no need for a silencer. If later I was gonna quiet it like silent I'd just buy a longer barrel like $40 factory Crosman barrel and throw on a $26 Airgununiverse LDC. Barrel adaptor and other brand silencers are a waste of money and adds too much weight to the 1377.

I have more kills with this homebrew 177 1377 out to 50 yards than my 22 MAC1 Steroid version.

Whomever gets to shoot the 177 will have the unfair advantage if you can't switch your order for two 177s instead. Your sheer having to pump the 22 to 8 to 10 pumps vs only 5 to 6 pumps for the 177 gonna get your heart rate up and have to wait to ease your breathing shooting the 22 accurately.

Plus it's noticeably louder in 22 at the same velocity compared to the 177. You can probably get by with only 3 pumps in 177 if shooting closer than 15 yards. It's like REALLY QUIET at 3 pumps.
