I have two pump pistols and the instructions of each say leave at least one pump before storage. Now I have just purchased a Crosman 140 and feel I should pump it at least once prior to placing it in the closet. What is recommended for the 140? Should it have some air in it before storage?

I store my 1400's with 2 pumps. I think is best to store them with a pump or so to keep the exhaust cap closed to prevent stuff from getting in there. BUT remember, these variants automatically cock when you pump them, so use caution and keep them unloaded when storing. I also keep the breech open.

I have searched and found a copy of the owner's manual of the 140 on the internet and it says "when storing it, release all air pressure."
Based on what you guys say and your experience, I think I'll pump it at least once prior to storage. You've apparently had no bad experiences with keeping a few pumps in your air guns. Why it's recommended in some and not is others is beyond me.

kept 2 pumps in mine after complete reseal..zero issues. Gave it to a friend to give to his grandson to learn to squirrel hunt with.
