Just purchased a Canadian made157 and the hammer only seems to have one power setting, is this a normal variant or have I got a faulty item? Velocity with 7.4gr pellets is around 460fps.

I think that's normal for that model. Not all of them came with the two-click hammer. That's pretty good velocity. It should get a lot of shots from a cartridge.

Very pleased with the performance, just wanted to check that one click on the hammer was normal amidst all the possible variants. I had read that two and three clicks versions were made, but couldn't find anything a bout single click hammers.

I'm sure that there's someone out there that knows everything about every variant of that particular pistol. But it ain't me. My rabbit holes are the Crosman 760 and the QB77-78 series of rifles. 
I'm sure that some searching will turn all the details up.

I had a 157 many years ago. It had a 2-stage hammer, but I distinctly recall thinking the extra velocity was nowhere near worth the reduction in the number of shots.

Oh No - marflow777 actually read the owner manual. I usually have to break the airgun before I read the manual.

so i have two ways to look at this hammer were they all two set hammers giving two powers or i there a one power hammer out of another pistol that has been used in the time the last one was produced to 202? i know the SSP250 has a pull hammer the first 1322 has one could parts get swapped i don't know or really care i am too old to care but yes i looked at the owners manual

Problem solved, it was me not feeling the difference between the two clicks.
I have a new problem now though, I managed to lose one of the grip screws!
Does anyone know what the thread specification is so I can order a replacement?

now the new Crosman use the same tread as a wall plate for a switch or plugs and i bought a bag of them for cheap
they work in my SSP250 frame

I have a second variant 150 with 3 clicks. The first click only goes "PIP!". The second click is all you need for plinking. I found it on top of a wall in the basement of a house my brother bought about 35 years ago. I cleaned it up and I got it shooting and it still shoots. Nothing replaced that I remember. Not my nicest 150 but my favorite because I can take it anywhere and let anybody shoot it
