Crosman 1701p

I am new to this airgun thing. I just started with the Air Venturi Avenger and loving it so far. Since then want to get an air pistol. I am planning on getting the Crosman 1701p for target and plinking. I know it does not come with a rear sight. So trying to figure out what is better a scope or a rear sight. Any recommendations on which one i should buy? Looking on spending close to $100 or under.

Mine came with a Williams rear sight, check them out,I think you can get them from Crosman.
BTW, I use a pistol scope now,the under $80 pistol scopes worked well for me, though now I use 7xBurris on almost all my pistols.

The williams sight is really fantastic. I have on a couple of the CO2 target pistols. Very fine and accurate adjustments. The Crosman LPA sight is also nice, adjustments are not as easy, but once zeroed, it stays put, Much sleeker looking than the Williams, but on that gun I would prefer the Williams.

The 1701p is a perfect basement pistol. Stacks pellets at a BLISTERING 3.1 fpe. I purchased some aftermarket grips and this rear sight;

You might want to consider a red dot sight. Great for plinking. When shooting off hand with a pistol I find that I can hold steadier with a red dot than with a scope.

I use a Burris Fastfire 3 on my 2240. I've been very pleased with it.
